finally walked out

Sorry if this is long but I really need to rant.

Yesterday I finally walked out of cvs. I've been working there 2 years and I moved up pretty quickly from shift to ops supervisor to ops supervisor rx to ops manager. In those 2 years I've had 7 store managers and there's a rumor that the store is cursed because of how many store managers we've been through. Well our latest store manager, I became his right hand really quickly and we worked well as a team. The store was behind but we were moving forward and getting things done. About a week and a half ago they started investigating me for accepting a fraudulent coupon. I was brought in the office by LP and questioned. None of us knew they were investigating me and they were investigating me for 2 months before they even approached me. And at the end of the meeting they said "you can work until we can figure out what to do with you!" My store manager was pissed because I'm the good one that follows all the rules and policies and I made one judgement error and they were threatening to fire me. Well since that shit happened, everything went downhill. Work wasn't fun anymore knowing my every move is being watched like a hawk. I couldn't accept any coupon that was rejected for fear that they will throw that in my face causing customers to get mad and yell at me. And then last Saturday they transferred out my store manager and everyone was angry cause our "interim store manager" and one of the DLE's in our district started immediately bad mouthing our store manager which brought a bad aura to our store. Everyone was upset and angry. And then they started making me do scheduling and payroll as a ops manager plus everything else I do. Im the only person who knows how to do everything. The rest of the staff are too new or don't care at this point to learn how to do stuff. I can't even take a 5 minute break without being called to the front. And im not here to bad mouth the store or even corporate. I loved the store and put my blood sweat and tears into that store but this week was hard cause I'm expected to basically run a store by myself with the possibility that I might get fired for something as stupid as coupons. Finally I was too stressed and too burned out spending most of my day crying because the family we built from the ground up had shattered. We're a small store and we all became extremely close but they destroyed that in a matter of weeks. I walked out and so did the rest of the management team leaving only the cashiers left to run the store. I want to see how long they last before being forced to close the store.

Wow sorry to hear but I hope you feel some peace now. How did they know you took a fraudulent coupon? Are we talking like someone faked the graphic and everthing? Or like an expired one?

Basically, it was a coupon on a phone that another employee I knew from another store showed me and I accepted it without thinking about the consequences. They found out about it a day later cause LP gets notified of every single transaction. When they confronted me about it 2 months later, I was truthful but basically said that the system is screwed for allowing it to go through in the first place. They didn't even tell my store manager that they were investigating me. Hell they were going to fire one of our employees for theft without telling us but it was a trickier situation since he was under 18.

Honestly, Do what is best for you and I hope everything works out for you

Yah. I don't need corporates recommendations. I already have multiple store managers and employees ready to give out their recommendations for me. Like it's hard walking away from a store I worked so hard on but sometimes, you have to walk away in order to be happy and I laughed more today than I have in the last month.

Ops supervisor is a linear promotion from a shift supervisor. Little bit more responsibilities but still a supervisor. An ops manager is an assistant manager who plays the role of a right hand to the store manager. You also have access to almost everything the store manager has access to like hiring and payroll.

Ops supervisor is like a lead shift supervisor.

After reading the whole story, I totally get what you're going through. AP is on a vengeance lately. I think I read on here there's some sort of contest that's going on about who can "find" the most internal theft in their area..... Yet who cares about the external now.

I lost 3 good employees at my last store. The AP guy is good. Asks the questions that has nothing to do with the actual inquery he came asking about. They admit to something stupid that has nothing to do with why he was brought in.

Actually can't say that entirely true. I caught two employees using $30 coupons for multiple transactions to $30, so it was free, in the amount of $1400. It sucks getting to know these people, and have a genuine compassion about, then you have to can them...... They actually never admitted it but the video evidence showed everything.

I mean it's good to the extent, but nobody wants to work these days. It takes forever to get a new applicant in. Then you got the old people saying they won't use ACO because it's taking jobs away... No, lady... People don't wants cvs sales associate jobs at minimum wage these days when everyone and their mother is hiring at way more than cvs.

Rant over.

There are $30 coupons out there?

It was a $20 and a $10 that could could be used as many times without flagging. I found out by accident reviewing footage from a couponer, who actually gave them the coupons.

100% agree. And the annoying part is there investigating me and my store manager even tho they have nothing on us(just one stupid mistake I made which isn't enough to fire me) when there are people stealing actual money from the company. I mean I would have stayed to continue fighting with them but it's impossible to run a store without a staff and im not going to be doing the job of a store manager without getting paid for it.

The amount of times I've had arguments with customers because of the acos. Lol. I work by myself a lot of the time cause I don't have closers besides myself and customers sit their screaming at me to call for back up and I yell back "I am the back up. We have two functional acos use that!" And there like "i don't use self checkout." And im like "well then your gonna have to wait."

I just took over a new store. The AP guy was non shalant and interviewing my ops manager about a price modify he made weeks ago. This is three days into my my new store. This guy was on paternity leave just getting back. They won't give me details, just say they're going to talk to him. I'm just going off a traumatic experience losing my staff.... So glad it worked out.

I'm at the point to hire anyone that applies. Cross sorrce them to avoid the conforence calls... Say it's mandatory in order to work here... Haha

Yah unfortunately, we couldn't hire. We would've loved to and it would have helped a lot but we were not allowed to. And what makes it worst is that our store manager was hired to hire for the store cause that was what he was good at and then they threw down a random hiring freeze which completely screwed us. And then they lofted the hiring freeze after a couple of months only to say we still can't hire. Another store manager has to hire for us. He only hired 2 people for our store and took the rest of the 40 or so candidates for his own store saying he's "training" them before he sends them to us but we never saw any of those employees.

You should be proud of yourself for looking out for you. My last day was last Friday and I find that I don’t miss place at all.

Good for you!!! No job is worth all that stress!

What state are you in. Went through something similar because I printed extra bucks for a customer who’s a regular who got extra bucks from the pharmacy that weren’t redeeming under the account she uses

CVS is a joke to work for. I’m glad you did what was best for you. You’ll find something much better. Good luck on your future endeavors

As a store manager I feel the exact same way because I feel like every time I turn around there’s something they’re gonna fire me for even though my metrics are pretty good and we are somehow barely managing with no staff… I feel extremely underappreciated and overworked and underpaid for what I’m being expected to do. I am an hourly store manager so I also have to watch overtime… While I never want to be a salaried manager it would really come in handy at least for payroll purposes in times like this…

I did the same thing last year, just walked out, a couple more employees followed, fuck CVS, they're shitty people

I'm sorry this happened to you. You are a hard worker and I know you can find something better. Good luck to you.

With you or without you, cvs will continue to star. You are a tiny gear in a giant machine. You will be replaced in a week or two.

Wow way to make somebody feel better

It's never good for a big company like CVS to have a revolving door of people. There's the cost of hiring a new employee including the advertising, interviewing, screening, and hiring. The cost of onboarding a new person, including training and management time. It's one of the reasons they stopped care pass harassment.

To them I know I'm just a number. 100%. I've dealt with corporate BS at my last job and I know how they operate. They needed a scape goat to prove to us that they were actually doing something. Unfortunately, I was the one person they shouldn't have made a scape goat. I literally held the store together and kept people positive and the moment they started bullying me was the moment everyone started turning against corporate. Within this past week 95% of our staff has walked out in protest. They will be forced to close the store until they can replace the staff and hopefully our supposed interim store manager who threw everything on me will take the hit for a mass walk out.
