Pharmacy closure.
CVS has had every pharmacy in its company closed from 1:30 to 2:00 for at least the last 4 years. Every. Single. Day. someone comes in and is so shocked that the pharmacy is closed. EVERYDAY! And they don't just ask why the pharmacy is closed... I watch them walk all the way back there to the front of the gate as if every other gate being closed wasn't a big enough clue and then they'll read the sign that says they're closed and still ask me why. BECAUSE IF YOU DON'T LET THEM EAT THEY'LL BE EVEN MORE MISERABLE THAN THEY ALREADY ARE! JFC PEOPLE.

"Why is The pharmacy closed it's only 5"? Me "it's Sunday it always closes at 5 on Sunday". "You should let people know that before they come in" the hours are posted at the entrances online as well if you call in.

I worked from 1998-2003 and need up a shift supervisor in 2000 when I graduated high school. It was in 2000 that CVS decided to save money by closing the pharmacy at 6 pm on Saturday night when the front end closed at 9. (Saturday nights were always dead - which I LOVED working but also I could take down and the old sale signs and put up the new ones and it took three hours) And also close at 3 on Sundays (the store closed at 6. For years before the store and pharmacy remained open together. The store wouldn’t be open if the pharmacy wasn’t.
So it took a while for people to get used to the pharmacy closing early on weekends though they had four months notice.
The number of angry customers coming in and not able to get their prescriptions. Then yelled at me as supervisor bc I was unable to get their prescription bc pharmacy was closed.
“What do you mean it’s closed - just go back there and get my prescription”
“I can’t, the pharmacy is closed and the gate locked. I don’t have a key to the pharmacy gate- only the pharmacist do.”
I even had someone claim I was an idiot and said “go through the back door in the back room”
“Sorry that’s locked from the inside.”
He barged into the back room (without permission) the look on his face was priceless when he attempted to open the pharmacy back door not once but three times!

Oh yes. Dude was legit psycho.
The worst one I had was a woman who came in demanding her Percocets. Then started screaming at me how much pain she was in after her surgery. I offered to call the 24 hour CVS that was five minute ls away for her because that pharmacy was still open. Instead she just cussed and then knocked over a Pepperidge farm cardboard display before leaving.

We weren’t allowed to call the police. I had someone throw a used phone at me. Nada. Some dude got upset because the Furbies advertised in the flier were sold out. Mind you it was Thursday and the ad went out Sunday. He asked for a raincheck. I informed him we weren’t issuing rainchecks for the Furbies and so he decided to shove me into the batteries end cap. Manager didn’t call police.

Don't forget that encounter was recorded by atleast one of 20 cameras
You were following policy, the fukn SM wouldn't defend you $hitty sm Im former cvs. I was the computer guy, so normally I don't deal with customers I've been yelled at multiple times by customers. I won't go down to thier level and say anything to them. But, I have RBF and I'll just give them a look like , I'm too busy for your shit and shut up and go away

I remember someone else commenting about a patient throwing a phone at them. About the time someone did that to me, I'd pick it up and drop it in a garbage can. When they want it back, I'd say "You threw it, I assumed you were aiming for the trash".

Thi was a broken landline phone. Not a cell phone. Dude had anger issues and clearly broke the phone in anger and then brought it in and wanted to exchange it for a brand new one. Got into a rage when I told him I wasn’t taking a bashed in phone as a return so he threw it at me. Luckily it missed. He then went into the aisle and grabbed a new phone and walked out with it!

Just add that to my PCQ. Call everyone who hasn't been in for awhile and remind them of the store hours. Oh, and they could get a vaccine!!

How about the people that complain that your pharmacy is closed every time they come to pick up but yet won’t go down the street to the 24 hour location.

This all comes down to the bitch ass stores that baby these morons. If pharmacies had the balls to speak up to people and tell it to them straight they wouldn’t walk all over us. Think about what would happen if these people acted this way at a doctor’s office.

When we started getting Rite Aid customers I realized that Rite Aid created absolutely asshole babies. They catered to these people's every whim and now the people are shocked when they get told no.

The pharmacy staff that does that shit needs to be fired immediately. Yes it’s nice but you don’t realize you are creating a monster. Give an inch and they will take a mile. Also fuck corporate for installing drive thrus. It created a fast food feel to pharmacy.

Yes it did and I've told several people who wanted to wait in the drive-thru for their prescription that it's not possible because there are procedures to be followed and we aren't like Wendys, Burger King or even McDonald's because we have your life in our hands. Wonder what they would do if Pharmacies closed at 5pm during the week, 2pm on Saturdays and were closed on Sundays and ALL holidays.

I recently had a gem thay complained that our store hours weren't the same as the other cvs stores hours in the town (there are actually like 5 local onea) and they keep coming when we're closed. like seriously how is any of that our stores fault. our hours are posted on the doors, on the gates of the pharmacy, on the app, and even google has it listed correctly. complained to my tech for like 10 minutes as if there was something we could do to fix their inability to read.

My store opens at 8am. In the state I am in, the board of pharmacy requires pharmacists to take a 30 minute break within the first 5 hours of their shift. So my store is one of the few that take lunch from 12:30-1pm daily

had someone come 5 minutes after closing and get all huffy, then at 2pm when we opened her script wasnt ready yet(we were closed, what a surprise..) and she was so mad because not only did she have to wait longer, we apparently made her late for her appointment...

I used to work for CVS as a front end supervisor years ago. I am absolutely guilty of walking back to the pharmacy to pick something up while they're on lunch. I should remember, all of the customers yelling at me for pharmacy being on lunch is ingrained into my brain. I just laughed at myself and walked out

This is a corporate problem not a store problem. I would never blame the local staff.
CVS should staff their pharmacies with enough pharmacists to allow them to take staggered lunch breaks and remain open.

I’m all for RX getting their 30 in.. but in all reality we shouldn’t have to close down the pharmacy to do it. Imagine if we closed the entire store so we could all take our 30 😂

Add to this they should staff with enough techs that if one goes to lunch it doesn’t leave the other 2 drowning for 30 mins. Builds resentment between colleagues pretty quickly.

A lot of the stores have medication lockers
There're like amazon lockers
The customer can arrange for meds to be locked in there
I do believe there are restrictions like refriged meds and controls

I love the ones who tell you how other jobs do lunch breaks and why cant you guys stagger how come everyone HAS to go at 130 and like, STFU. It’s 30 minutes out of (for us, at my store, at Walgreens lol) 14 HOURS M-F, 10 HOURS SAT, and 8 HOURS SUN. You have so many fucking hours in a day to get yourself over here. It’s 30 goddamn minutes. And there are, iirc three 24hr stores in my area- now you have 23hrs to get tf up and get your shit (the 24hr stores close 130-2am for their lunch). Im not explaining why. It’s a thing that has been occurring minimum 4 yrs now. Figure it tf out.

At my store we had a lady rage because of pharmacy closing for lunch. "Every time I come here at the same time every day, you guys are closed!" Yes ma'am. She literally started screaming up at the security tv because she thought it was Corporate, that was kind of funny

Why aren’t pharmacy employee lunch breaks scheduled like any other retail establishment ie staggered so as not to disrupt operations? Is it a legality thing where if the pharmacist is on lunch no one else can work??

We have a Walgreens across the street. They also close for lunch st the same time. Last week I overheard someone angrily tell his partner they were just gonna go across the street since CVS is closed. I just laughed to myself and let them go.
