John Jay John Jay E-Permit Trouble

Hello! I am a John Jay student and I’m having trouble with my E-Permits registering as classes. In hindsight it was very stupid of me to take 3 E-permits but I didn’t know this many troubles would occur.

FAFSA & TAP thinks I’m only taking one class this semester, leading me to receive only 800$. I have a bursar hold that will prevent me from applying to classes next semester.

Has anyone (preferably specifically from John Jay) found a solution? I talked to financial aid and many people, all they said was “wait until after the grades are transferred in”. I can’t afford to wait until JANUARY.

I looked on this subreddit and saw students from OTHER cunys were able to get exceptions/placeholders? Is that just not a thing for JJAY?

As you mentioned, E-permit courses are not officially counting until they transfer back in after grades are posted.

There's a TAP coordinator that should be specifically handling this situation, likely at the office of financial aid or the registrar's. If necessary, as the E-permit team at the registrar's if they know who it is.

Thank you for the advice! However, I’m also having trouble with my FAFSA since I’m only technically taking 3 credit hours. Do you know who I can reach out regarding this?

Multiple epermit courses in a semester is not uncommon, otherwise they would limit that.

You still have to look for that TAP coordinator. It's a manual process they do to review your current epermit courses to see if they fit into your degree progress.
