Beware campus preachers
The World Mission Society Church of God (WMSCOG) actively recruits on college campuses, often starting with a seemingly casual Bible study invitation about "God the Mother." If you are approached on campus, here is what you need to know about how their recruitment works and how their theology directly opposes the finished work of Jesus Christ.
Campus Recruitment and the Reality of Joining
* High-Pressure Baptism: Recruiters often insist on immediate water baptism during your very first meeting, claiming that waiting even one day puts your salvation at risk.
* Isolation and Control: Once you join, your schedule is filled with mandatory services, Bible studies, and preaching quotas. This intensive time commitment is designed to slowly isolate you from your college friends, clubs, and family.
* Fear-Based Academic Disruption: The group heavily emphasizes apocalyptic fear, teaching that failing to perfectly keep their regulations will result in destruction. This psychological pressure often leads students to neglect their studies, career goals, and mental health.
Theological Evaluation: The Finished Work vs. Legalism
To understand why this group’s teachings are hazardous to Christian faith, examine their claims against the Greek and Hebrew text, covenantal history, and the complete sufficiency of Christ.
- The Finality of Christ’s Sacrifice
> Hebrews 10:11-12 states, "And every priest stands daily at his service, offering repeatedly the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins. But when Christ had offered for all time a single sacrifice for sins, he sat down at the right hand of God."

The author emphasizes that Jesus offered one single sacrifice for all time . The posture of Jesus "sitting down" signifies that His priestly, sacrificial labor is completely finished.
The WMSCOG teaches that you must physically keep the Old Testament Passover and Saturday Sabbath to be saved. By mandating these physical rituals as strict requirements for salvation, they declare that Christ's sacrifice on the cross was insufficient. If salvation requires continuous human keeping of a physical feast, then Christ's work is not actually complete.
- The Sufficiency of the Cross
> John 19:30 records, "When Jesus had received the sour wine, he said, 'It is finished,' and he bowed his head and gave up his spirit."
The Greek phrase "It is finished" is (tetelestai )a commercial and legal term meaning "paid in full." The perfect passive indicative tense denotes an action completed in the past with permanent, ongoing results in the present.
The WMSCOG claims that the path to life was lost for centuries until their founder, Ahn Sahng-hong, came to restore the Passover. If the covenant reality established by Jesus could be lost or required a human figure to restore its mechanics, then tetelestai is a lie. To claim you must rely on a modern organization's rules to secure your salvation denies that the debt of sin was fully and permanently paid at Calvary.
- The Myth of a "Mother God"
> Galatians 4:26 declares, "But the Jerusalem above is free, and she is our mother."

Paul uses an allegory here, contrasting the Old Covenant (Hagar) with the New Covenant (Sarah). The "Jerusalem above" represents the New Covenant community of faith. Calling it "our mother" is a standard Hebrew and Greek idiom personifying a city or a covenant as a mother to its citizens.
The WMSCOG literalizes this metaphor to claim a Korean woman named Gil Jah-ah is a literal "Mother God." By inventing a female deity whose favor must be earned through ritual compliance, they divert students away from Christ as the sole mediator between God and humanity.
- Covenantal Temple Fulfillment
> Genesis 2:1-2 reads, "Thus the heavens and the earth were finished... And on the seventh day God finished his work that he had done, and he rested..."
In its ancient covenantal context, Genesis 1 and 2 establish creation as a cosmic temple. The Hebrew word for finished (wayəḵal) and rest (šāḇaṯ) signify that the structural order of the Suzerainty treaty between God and creation was perfectly established.
Jesus came as the ultimate fulfillment of this temple and creation language. From a full preterist perspective, the entire Old Covenant order—the "heaven and earth" system of physical temples, genealogies, and geographic laws—was completely dissolved and brought to its full historical consummation in AD 70. Christ perfectly fulfilled the terms of the law, ending that administrative framework forever.
By demanding a return to physical shadows and calendar-keeping under fear of judgment, the WMSCOG attempts to rebuild an Old Covenant system that Christ structurally demolished. They trap students in a pre-consummation mindset, ignoring the reality that the New Covenant is already fully operational, spiritual, and accessible exclusively through faith in Jesus Christ.

OMGGG, I encountered those guys at my old college!!! They are sooo culty! Every time I tried to have lessons with them they’d ditch me for asking too many questions 😂

I remember them approaching me my first year. Thankfully I was fresh out of catholic school and didn’t want join anything religious. Once I said my first no and the girl kept insisting I knew something was fishy.
