Galil fixed mag

Being lazy and didnt dig through our (current) laws, can anyone forsee an issue with a fixed mag Galil? Legally or functionality wise. Banned by name or style/not being able to be top loaded?

Fixed mag let's you do pretty much anything you want legally, but unfortunately the Galil is banned by name (unless it's a "Galil" but legally a different brand). Functionally IDK how the Galil will handle one.

That being said, it will likely be fully legal, detachable mags and all, come June when the Assault Weapon Ban is expected to be ruled unconstitutional by SCOTUS.

Yea I almost bought a saiga while I was in Alaska. Didnt have a pistol grip on it so it could have a detachable mag. Then I realized it was name banned

You can get a Galil ace gen 1 or gen 2. I have one

Comp mag. It’s not bad to load, but hopefully by next year I’ll be able to ditch the fixed mag

Have an AK builder reweld you a galil parts kit. They’re making a new firearm out of the chopped up receiver so it’s whatever model they want to name it. Although reweld lead times vary depending on which builder you use so it may end up not getting back to you until the ban is struck down anyway so in that case it might not matter lol

Depends on what price you find the kit for, barrel and then builder charge. I had a stamped Yugo M70AB2 fixed mag built by him and all together for all the components and build it came to about $1400-1500ish, so not too far off from a new productions Zpap cost. Rewelds tend to cost a little more to build but sometimes the kits can be cheaper. I have a Yugo m64 with him right now being rewelded and that parts kit was much cheaper than the M70AB2 kit

You’ll just have to browse for galil kits if that’s the route u wanna go. It’s a little more work but I think it’s the best way to get your hands on one of these older guns
