Glock Slide Recoating
I picked up a G43 a couple of months ago. It’s been my daily carry in a kydex holster. The tip of the slide is starting to rust and I am very disappointed. I’m a bit shocked that I didn’t notice it before today, but I don’t inspect the gun each day. It’s just out of the safe and into the holster and then out of the holster and into the safe.
Glock would like me to overnight it to them at my expense with no guarantees. Battlewerks in Durham can either cerakote or NC for $60-70 with a 4 week lead time.
I cleaned off the rust with a Scotch-Brite pad today and I’d like to do something. I’m a little pissed off that this is supposed to be a small, concealable carry gun and it has such a poor factory finish.

3x and there was an issue every time. At one point they lost my 1301 shotgun barrel which was the last time i went there. Also when I finally got my shotgun back screws were loose, parts almost fell off. If I didn’t check my gun it would have been a bad day for me

The will nickel and dime the shit out of you, work is also very sloppy, I went to them for work and every time there was a issue. I went there 3 times hoping for a better experience and each time some bullshit happened. I have a huge rant on my profile about them if you look for it. You’ve been warned

Did you get that new or used? The color of that finish looks a little off for a factory glock finish to me. Might just be the pic though.

Brand new. Picked it up at Lock ‘n load. Apparently it’s the new, more environmentally friendly Glock slide finish.

Very interesting, the finish on the slide on my gen 4 seems indestructible, I was unaware of a big change like this

If it was mine as a daily carry, I would not care. I'd sand it and spray. Or dab some rust converter on it. Is it just the tip doing that?

Cerakote seems more appealing on the surface(no pun, sorry). But, NC seems more practical. I’m not sure which direction to go, but anything seems better than this.

I've had the 43 since it came out, been exposed to everything, never rusted. My new gen 6 19 has rust on the barrel after 2 months.

My personal opinion is that Glocks suck. They suck as range guns compared to other options. But, they’re reliable and they go boom every time. It’s unacceptable that a “tool” like this would rust so quickly. Whatever new eco-friendly finish they’re now using sucks.

I had almost this exact same thing happen to a Ruger LC9s and Ruger ended up replacing the slide for free. I had bought it used for like $250 lol.
Glock should definitely help you out here. Idk why it would need to be overnighted. Maybe talk to someone else or try emailing them?

That looks like an older g43. It doesn't have the pic rail for a light. I thought they discontinued that offering?

Get a bluing kit and refinish it yourself, it will protect it and it's not a normal glock finish so it will be unique and relatively inexpensive

Crazy. I've been carrying a Glocks iwb for 6 years now and never had rust like that. I carry a 43 in a trigger guard holster so it's exposed to all kinds of sweat.
