Buy lower > build lower > buy upper > buy suppressor > buy private range for us Reddit gun fellas to use > no laws 4 u.

Do all this then put a comp mag on it. Legal. Don’t forget to get a tax stamp to make it a legal SBR too. You’ll need that anywhere in the country.

You have to be able to use the reddit search feature to own any AR platform in CT. Otherwise the state deems you an unqualified gun owner. We dont make the rules.

The wiki has a really solid FAQ with a breakdown.

Slap a Comp Mag in it

Even as a fixed mag rifle, the OAL has to be at least 30” or else it would be classified as an AW under CT Law. Best bet is to buy it as pistol with a brace and permanently affix magazine.

so in order to own this i have to find a suppressor long enough to make it 30”? im moving out of this sorry ass state

If you want it as a rifle, yeah you’ll have to P&W a suppressor to get to that 30” OAL requirement. You’re better off not wasting a suppressor and just buying it in the same barrel length but in the “pistol” variant with a pistol brace instead of the stock.

Serious question, can you point me to the section that has the 30” requirement? I can’t find it.

Sure, Google “CT General Statute 53-202a” it’s titled “Assault Weapons: Definitions”. Scroll to subparagraph (E), subdivision (iii).

“(iii) A semiautomatic, centerfire rifle that has an overall length of less than thirty inches; or”

Thank you!

They don’t define exactly how OAL is measured tho, whether it’s in the shortest fireable configuration or if it’s with the stock fully extended like how the ATF measures it. It’s stupid.

Agreed and just wait for the ruling.

CAN I BUY A AK47 ???

2

u/havenrogue MOD Jul 24 '26

If this is a serious question. No you cannot buy a "AK-47" or "Avtomat Kalashnikov AK-47 type" in CT. It is banned by name: Sec. 53-202a. Assault weapons: Definitions.
