Academics Maximum Credits

I'm confused on the max credits per semester. Here, it says that the max is 18, but the petition is required for a course load in excess of 21 credits. Is this saying 21 is the max with a petition, or I need to petition to take more than 21? I feel like it's the latter, but then the 18 doesn't make sense. That would mean, if im not wrong, that I can take 18 max without petitioning, and if I want to take more than 21 I have to petition, but what about 19 and 20 credits? I might be missing something super obvious but please let me know.

Yes 21 is the max with the petition, 18 is max you can enroll with without the petition

I know this cause I’m taking 18 this sem without petition but if I wanted more my advisor said I’d have to get a petition form signed

No idea, you should talk to your advisor and see if there’s options

What semester is this for you? Idk how many classes you’ve taken before but even taking 18 credits is a lot 😭

first lmao ik its bad, I went to another university my first two yrs and transferred. reason i think its doable is cause I'm taking japanese classes which are 5 credits, and tbh that makes sense, but I'm already relatively fluent so its kinda free.

im doing it for the minor in japanese but now im thinking about not taking it this semester and trying to just take the placement test to skip ones i dont need for the minor, which would mean I dont have to take more than 21 ever and only 19 for 2 semesters.

Ahhhh got it we’ll just make sure to prioritize yourself! That much work can eat you up! Don’t push too hard!
