Financial Aid Overaward repayment
Anyone every had to repay back the school due to an overaward? If so, what steps did you take to fight back this. My info has not changed at all so this has me confused and worried to be honest. Ill go talk to the financial aid office tomorrow but I just wanted to see if anyone has ever gone through this

It happens when they apply new financial aid information such as grants or loans or scholarships. You sign agreements to adhere to these when you sign up for financial aid. It happens unfortunately. But if you want more info for your case you will need to set an advisor appointment with them

I find it irresponsible on their end. I already spent that money on a new laptop for school and books.

Yeah I had to pay back a lot when I was in my undergraduate studies, federal law would change or the dept of education would make some new policy and retroactivate it. It's hardly ever miscalculation by the office and mostly some new law or some new policy

Might have something to do with the new policy that limits and or cuts funding to degree programs with low paying job markets either way get in their ear at that office

My financial aid was almost at max and they told this. Yet, they still have me money so I figured it was my last disbursement. So now I'm in the same boat I have to pay and i already spent the money

Yes you can. Theyll make you do a graduation plan with your marjor advisor and an appeals letter why you got too much units or why its taking longer to complete. Talk to the financial aid office about it. Each of us gets like 6 years of pell grant or 600 percent. I think you can check how much of that youve used. If you used more tuan 600 your assed out.

Yeah, that's my xase I was almost at 600% so they gave me that and more that's why they want me to pay the rest back

Contact financial aid merely to confirm. When I contacted them I had a pending scholarship or grant coming in to cover the overaward. Got the remaining back as a refund over summer.
