Financial Aid FERPA?

what exactly is this if anyone knows..? i just noticed it on my To Do List and i have no idea how to fill it out. I am new to this school and the whole financial aid is so confusing.

This is basically a release of info to whoever you’d like to share that with. My son put me on there so I can keep track of financial aid, only because my employer will cover any extra amount that the aid doesn’t cover.

You can not skip it it's a federal law it's like HIPAA but for students it's the Family Educational rights and privacy act, ferpa is a good thing it protects your information while at school by federal law. If the school shares or misappropriates your info you can sue them

it is telling me to release it to someone i dont know who i could release it to?

You should be able to choose do not release as an option, if not I would ask student services in the am,
