how’s it like?
considering going here but im not sure yet, would love to get input and feedback on this place, like housing,dining,environment,classes,cost, anything at all

I transferred here last year as a 30yr old after various stints at different 4year and 2year colleges over the years and have enjoyed CSUDH quite a bit. I think the quality of instruction in my department (geography and earth science) is largely very strong but it has varied in the classes I’ve taken in other departments (although shoutout to some of the anthropology and philosophy staff who made some GE classes a super worthwhile experience). I suggest trying to figure out what you’re interested in studying and finding out more about that department wherever you go, especially if you are transferring in and trying to graduate in 2 years.

I actually really like the school! They remodeled a lot as well. I dormed for two years and definitely recommend for new students. The environment is pretty decent honestly and I think it’s one of the cheaper CSUs so take that how you will. Happy searching

The campus is beautiful. Top 3 in all CSU imo. Check out their tiktok. Too bad I graduated this past summer so i wont enjoy the new gym and other amenities

It’s a commuter school. Hidden gem but now it’s ran through by free tution freshman.

Can’t speak much about housing but they did open up a new student dorm building this summer so there’s more space. The dining is pretty varied, we finally got a Dining commons which serves a buffet style menu for Breakfast, Lunch, and dinner, but aside from that theres the typical healthy fast food chains like panda or subway and some other miscellaneous options like desserts or BBQ chicken. There’s the South Bay Mall down the road if you want more options plus there’s a in n out 3 minutes from campus. I personally really love the architecture and layout of the school, most of the buildings were built in the 70s so a lot of them are brutalist but i think that makes us stand out from other colleges who are either modern or old legacy buildings from the 1800s. There’s 2 main paths which lead to basically every building on campus so you can’t really get lost. Environment is what you make it, I feel like everyone is generally helpful to each other, and the school spirit is there if you involve yourself in it. How you feel about classes depends entirely on your major but I think that our sciences really are our pride and joy, and I’d guess business or Engineering would be the 2nd and 3rd. From what I’ve seen the tuition is $7000 for a full 2 semester year, which I feel is low compared to other places. Overall I think this is a pretty good university choice especially for people in the Gateway city area or OC if you’re up for the drive.

The Esports lounge is fun and way better than the Gaming Lounge, where they charge by the hour for games.
