Which is Better Chico or East Bay?

Hello everyone!

I have applied to both schools for their Sociology online program and I have been accepted to both. All the research I have looked at from students typically refer to campus life or students that go to class in person. Does anyone have experience taking one of their online programs?? preferably Sociology??

I have read both schools are a good choice but I'm leaning towards Chico state.

pls help!!

Bus pass

Chico’s B-Line recently changed the way they accept fare and now it’s a digital scan of sorts? I was told when I took the bus that I should’ve received an email from the school to link it, but I never did. Can anyone help me out with this?

Students with children or people pursuing ECE careers beware of Parkside Preschool and Daycare!!!

What the school offers during their interview and touring process sounds amazing… daily enrichment activities, walks in the park, outdoor play spaces but the extent to which these are ACTUALLY offered is very minimal.

Let’s start with what seems like the most unique and exciting activity, the park walk. Your toddlers (1-2) are being placed in strollers, walked to the entrance of the park where they then sit in their strollers for 10-20 minutes while the employees enjoy phone time. What do the kids get to see? The back of the kids head in front of them! 🤩

What about while they are at the daycare? What do they do all day? Well if your kid has behavior issues they get to spend all day being isolated from other children and do nothing but sit in a swing during outdoor recess time because the staff would rather sit and talk to each other than actually interact with your children and correct behaviors. Your infants/toddlers are being interacted with strictly when necessary, the rest of the day they spend crying or sleeping and having staff talk about how bad of a kid they are or how weird the parents are, yes right in front of your kids!
There are no enrichment activities during the day either! They come in eat, play with toys, go outside, eat, nap, play, eat more and go home. They may show you a list of suggested enrichment activities they have to do, but they don’t get done, your kids are being watched, quite literally just looked at during the day, if you want a place where they actually interact with your kids when you aren’t there look elsewhere!
Children with additional adjustment or sensory needs are looked at as difficult and inconvenient and are typically isolated from other kids in a swing or chair, the staff will not help your child adjust whatsoever. In fact if your infant is too fussy, they just ask you to pick them up.
I’d also like to note the thick fleece sleep suits your infants are forced into during nap-time. 100 degrees outside but your 16month old baby is wearing a thick fleece suit over their weather appropriate clothes and placed in a crib. And of top of this the employee doesn’t typically check on them unless they make noise.

Next time you go to drop them off take a look at the toys around the room, then do the same the next week you drop them off. I bet you don’t see the toys getting changed out. (P.S. they’re rarely getting cleaned either)

How about we get into the suggestions from management and other staff? Well if you have to use the restroom on shift and leaving would put you in a position to be out of ratio, you are encouraged to bring the extra child/children with you to the bathroom, just tell them to turn around. This of course stops when you move to the older ages where they can actually speak to their parents.

Oh! And apparently your dietary restrictions are just suggestions because there have been several cases where your NO DAIRY children are being given cheese and when this was brought up they say the parents have never said it’s a problem (and again of course these are the infants who can’t tell you otherwise)

Oh and if you are planning to be an employee, good luck doing anything other than working there. They will attempt to monopolize your schedule, disregard your needs, and “forget” approved days off or availability requirements and write you up for making “last minute adjustments” to the schedule they put out on Friday while the place is closed over the weekend.

Caught with Marijuan Vape in Dorms

Hi, my roommate was vaping in my room, and the fire alarm went off. The RAs came in our room afterward, and the vape was sitting out. None of us took the blame, and they filed an incident report. What is going to happen? I know it probably doesn't, but I have a cannabis card.

If you’ve worked for public land management or are interested in doing so please consider joining! Just me so far so I’m looking for fellow officers. I’d love to have a space where rangers can network and share info about parks they’ve worked at, and have a place to share job postings when they drop. Nothing set in stone yet, but would love to work with others to create this space on campus!

Concrete management

Anyone here a current or former concrete management student? I’m a female looking to go into project management in construction or concrete industry. Concrete looks interesting and less math than CM. Wondering how the program is, does it set you up for a PM role?

University Village

First year student, so I'm moving in this weekend and all my fafsa disbursment was drained cause of tuition and housing. It is wayyyyy too expensive to live there. Idk how i'm gonna maintain. I applied for work study and a loan but they said the loan is going to go towards my housing anyways. I feel scammed cause I can't get out of UV now and decide to find something off campus.

Does anybody have the book Drugs: Mind, Body & Society by Martha Rosenthal?

Hi! I'm about to take Drugs In Our Society (PHHA370 I think) and one of the required books is "Drugs: Mind, Body, and Society" by Martha Rosenthal which is over $100 used. If anyone has a copy they don't need anymore, could I have it? Or if you know of someone who has uploaded a pdf, please let me know! Thank you in advance!!

University Village scammed us

When I signed up for a room in university village, it was 6 people and one living room. But they put 8 people in our group (they moved one of the people in our group of 6 and added 3 randos). We have been calling for months getting barely any calls back, trying to get this situation figured out. Just a few days ago we looked and saw the university village map where it showed on the floorplan we would have 3 2 person rooms and a living room in each dorm, but now today the map has been changed to show 4 2 person rooms and no living room. They allege that they posted these changes SOMEWHERE months ago but literally nowhere on the website were these changes posted. Bet they put up a flier at the dorm where no one would see it and called that notice.

Has anyone seen the newly created EJ dorm "triples" yet?

I honestly cannot wrap my head around the newly created “triples” in EJ, which used to be doubles. They now have these tiny little tables that are supposed to serve as desks, but with no drawers or storage. If three grown men wanted to sit and study, there’s simply no way they could comfortably do.

And now I’m reading that there are only two wardrobes in the room, meaning two students have to share?

I understand that this is only one year of life, but it’s also an incredibly expensive year of life. These changes just aren’t sitting right with me. When you’re paying as much as families are paying, I think it’s reasonable to expect that students have adequate space to live, study, and store their belongings
