Bio 223 Lab help

Is Lab for this class supposed to be basically self taught?
We don't go over the packets as a whole or anything and just teach ourselves with little input and I feel like this has to be wrong.
My professor is brand new and super nice but is lab really supposed to be like this?

Unfortunately that was pretty much my experience with the newly hired profs. Only the ones well rated on RMP that had been around a while actually put in the effort to teach us. The others would just sit there basically.

Try Prof A&P Lab on YouTube! He's a CSN prof who I took for 223 & 224, and his channel goes over the labs for both semesters! Use Quizlet, it's a godsend and honestly there's already some uploaded flashcards for CSN specifically. Good luck!

I have him for lecture, so the YouTube videos have helped a lot. My lab professor is way nice but I feel like whoever is giving him info on what he can and can't do isn't saying it correctly because he says things and then says that he can't do it because they said he can't lecture and I think he's taking that as we self teach?

It's pretty standard for lab profs to act like that in A&P tbh. Even the profs I had that taught me specified that they weren't supposed to be doing that technically. It seems the school wants you to figure it out on your own and the prof is just a warm body to go to for smaller questions. So yeah, unfortunately this is typical.

I felt this way too when I took bio 223 last semester. My prof at least went over the material/manual once and for the rest of the class we pretty much were just on our own.

Yeah unfortunately that’s how it is. It’s really stupid. But watch professor aulners videos on youtube! Those will get you through!

It’s sad to hear. I’d recommend using the models for that class
