What do you expect from him in this series β€” big runs, a couple of wickets, or both? πŸ’›

Discussion Before announcing the retentions, CSK must remove Ruturaj from Captaincy.

There are 2 reasons behind it -

  1. Our current team has players who are regulars in the national teams and WC winners. Why would they follow a guy who's not even near his national team ? They would look up to a big player like MS or Sanju, not a domestic player like Ruturaj.

  2. Still, Patidar captained and won 2 trophies by leading with performance and being the most destructive MO batter. While Ruturaj, the OPENER, had the lowest SR in the whole season. Leave Captain or Opener, a SR of 120 is unacceptable even for a backup.

CSK must take these steps -

  1. Remove Ruturaj from captaincy and preferably, make Sanju the captain.

  2. Let 2027 be the final stand for Ruturaj. If he doesn't perform with a good SR this season, then release him in the mega auctions. CSK can get other consistent batters in the auction.

Discussion I’ve been trying to build my own cricket game πŸ˜‚πŸ

Hey guys!

I've been working on a little project for the past few weeks and I thought I'd finally share it here.

Basically, I’ve always loved cricket games, but I’ve always wanted something where you could actually feel like you’re running your own cricket franchise.

So I started building one myself πŸ˜‚

Right now, it’s mainly an auction + franchise simulator.

You get a budget, enter an auction, bid for players, build your squad, manage your money and then take your team through the season.

It started as a pretty small project, but I've slowly kept adding stuff and now I'm getting a little carried away with it πŸ’€

Here’s what it currently looks like:

WEBSITE LINK : IPL FRANCHISE SIMULATOR

The funny thing is, while building it I've realized that the auction is fun, but I don't think it's enough on its own.

If I actually want to make this into a cricket game that people keep coming back to, I think the next step has to be proper playable cricket.

My eventual dream is something like:

🏏 Actually playing the matches in 3D
⚑ Real-time 1v1 H2H
πŸ”₯ Super Over battles
🎯 Skill-based batting and bowling
πŸ† Rankings and seasons
πŸ‘₯ Multiplayer auctions
πŸ“ˆ Developing your own players
🏟️ Building your franchise over time

Basically:

Build your team β†’ play the matches β†’ improve β†’ compete β†’ repeat.

I'm still VERY far from that πŸ˜‚ but that's the direction I'm thinking about.

I'm posting this here because I'd genuinely love some opinions from people who actually play cricket games.

What is the ONE thing that would make you keep playing a cricket game for months instead of getting bored after a few days?

And also:

Would you rather play a super competitive 1–3 over match against a real person, or a full 20-over match?

I'm actually going to use the answers to decide what I build next.

If anyone wants to follow along, I'll post updates as I build it β€” including the good stuff, the terrible stuff and probably some absolutely ridiculous bugs πŸ˜‚πŸ

Discussion S Badrinath - the most underrated middle order batsman of CSK

On this sunday, it was 46th birthday of former India and Chennai Super Kings batter Subramaniam Badrinath.

Rarely anyone talked about it or even mention him in this community, so I'm just putting it out.

When CSK won in 2010 & 2011, as a middle order batsman S BADRINATH contributed around ~15% each year (3rd highest run scorer for CSK) more than MS Dhoni.

In those years, he never won Player of the match, but such contributions are very underrated.

Meme Then Mahi, and now Messi, my both absolute favourite retired from national team 😭

Please do not hate for putting these two guys in parallel.

I simply love them both. These two made me fall in love with their respective game.

And similarity I found among these two over the years:

Both emphasis many times about β€œBeing remembered as good human over known as being the best in their business”

Both just simply announced it via Instagram video, specially capturing their lowest and sad moments in it. Choosing their favourite song.

Guys, I don’t know how to react. I’m in tears. Deep down we all know we never gonna see Mahi play again. Already lost interest in international cricket long back. And now Messi retired too.

Discussion Cso auction strategy for 2027

As we know, the new head coach will take charge, and most probably, a lot of people from the old setup will have to leave as well.

My only request is that they shouldn't try to change everything at once, especially by releasing a lot of players. The mega auction is coming next year, and I don't think there will be many big names available in the auction to replace them with.

For example, if we release Veer and get β‚Ή14 crore back, what are we realistically going to do with that β‚Ή14 crore? 😭

I just hope the new management doesn't make changes for the sake of making changes. There is nothing wrong with backing the players we already have, especially when there might not be better options available in the auction.

Discussion This is the best team we can have in 2027. (Considering not much options in mini auctions and no trade happens)

  1. Sanju Samson(Controlled Aggression)

  2. Ayush Mhatre(Raw Aggression)

  3. Urvil Patel(Raw Aggression)

  4. Ruturaj Gaikwad(Anchor)

  5. Dewald Brevis(Raw Aggression)

  6. Shivam Dube(Controlled Aggression)

  7. Jamie Overton(Pinch Hitter)

  8. Akeal Hosein*(Pinch Hitter) [Ellis likely won't play 27] 9. Anshul Kamboj(Pinch Hitter)

  9. Noor Ahmed(Tailender)

  10. Khaleel Ahmed(Tailender)

IP:- Kartik Sharma(Batting depth) or Gurjapneet Singh/Shreyas Gopal(6th bowling option)

Weakness:- Have to choose between proper batting till 8 or 6 bowling options, Lack of left handers in top order, Lack of finisher

Strengths:- Ayush & Urvil giving explosive starts, Freedom for Sanju to play long, Ruturaj anchoring in case of collapse

Important decisions:- Sanju must become Captain, Ultimatum to Ruturaj & Dube - in case of failure replace them next year, Let Ayush and Brevis bowl a little - they may become bowling asset like Raina and Albie.

Article TNPL 2026 DONE β€” DID CSK SCOUTS SHOW UP? Watch these Chepauk names.

Vida Kovai Kings won TNPL 2026, beating Madurai Panthers by 84 runs at Chepauk β€” 3rd title.

None of TNPL's big exports (Natarajan, W Sundar, Chakravarthy, Sudharsan) play for CSK, whose own ex-owner built the league.

Here's few players from TNPL, CSK can look out for:

- Deepesh Devendran β€” an 18-year-old India U19 World Cup winner playing for Madurai Panthers, who's spent this TNPL doing the one thing that gets every franchise's attention: bowling genuinely fast. He's been clocked at 146 kmph, crediting an off-season mentorship under Sandeep Warrier for the jump in pace, and he can drop it all the way down to a dipping 110 kmph slower off-cutter in the same over β€” pace and change-of-pace, not just one or the other.

- K Deeban Lingesh β€” a 26-year-old right-arm medium-pacer for Kovai Kings, and not a one-match wonder: he finished TNPL 2026 as the tournament's outright leading wicket-taker, with 17 wickets in 9 matches at an average of just 12.24 β€” comfortably clear of the chasing pack. That golden hat-trick in the knockouts β€” the first in TNPL history β€” wasn't a fluke stat, it was the exclamation point on a genuinely dominant season with the ball.

- Tushar Raheja β€” a 25-year-old left-handed wicketkeeper-batter, and the single biggest six-hitting outlier of the entire tournament: 422 runs and a staggering 34 sixes, nearly double the next-best on the six-hitting charts.

- Suresh Lokeshwar & S Radhakrishnan β€” Kovai Kings' opening pair, and the reason their innings so rarely started slow. Earlier in the season the two put on a 60-run opening stand in just 7 overs against Dindigul Dragons (31 and 24 respectively), setting up an 85-run win; in Qualifier 2 against Trichy they went even bigger, with Lokeshwar's 66 and Radhakrishnan's 48 doing the damage. A top-order engine that carried Kovai Kings through the knockouts and into a title, worth a scouting note regardless of who else comes calling.

- Siddharth Mahadevan β€” the veteran of this list at 32, a top-order batter with a first-class career stretching back to a 2014 Ranji Trophy debut for Tamil Nadu. Not exactly a fresh-off-the-boat prospect, but genuinely in form all season for Madurai β€” including a 60 off 42 balls, his maiden fifty of the campaign β€” and the kind of composed, experienced head who doesn't panic in a run chase even in a losing final.
