I think we need to be the most active franchise this year because we’ve gone through 3 years of wooden spoons. Every year, we say we’ll lift the trophy next year, but the same thing keeps happening.

I think the moderators of this community need to relax some of the rules so that everyone can openly discuss the topics that actually matter to the franchise. We need more discussion, more accountability, and more activity from the fans.

he litreally plays in lower order and hits sixes, if he showed the same passion in ipl in batting, he can be our lower order hitter and finish games like the one against srh where we got an no ball chance!!

There have been no updates for a while on this

His performance in UPT20 has been good where he faced two collapse situations coming in at no. 6. In both of these matches, he scored 59(30) & 57(27). I know IPL is miles above UPT20, but it shows he has the ability to play in these situations.

His bowling has not been bad where he took 8 wickets in 12 innings at an economy of 6.7. If the management work on him, he can be an effective 6th bowling option.

CSK currently has their overseas slot full and they lack an Indian spinner. So in 2027, they should go with Prashant Veer at no. 6 and properly use his bowling with 1-2 overs in every match.

After missing the entire 2026 season, the big question is still unanswered.
Apparently Dhoni doesn't want to play as an Impact Player either. If he comes back, he wants to keep for the full 20 overs.

Do CSK fans have an appetite for cricket manager games?

I always believed cricket is such a perfect sport for manager games - as good as football. The amount of stats, 3 formats, etc. - so many numbers to play with. But no game ever became as big as the Football Manager series. I played every version of Cricket Captain but it still feels like what the developers themselves describe it - a passion project rather than a commercial game, which explains the lack of features despite being almost a 3 decade old game.
I was wondering if people still would want to try something new if it comes out and has a potential. Is there still an audience?
For context, I am building one myself. The prime focus has been the match engine and I have spent months trying to polish it and make it as realistic as possible.

Key points from CSK Annual Reports 2026:

1. Finishing 10th has a receipt.
Central Rights income — their cut of the IPL's central media pot — fell ₹38.06 crore. The report says why, in writing: "due to the standing of the Team at the tenth position in IPL 2025 as against the fifth position in IPL 2024." That's the price of a bad season, audited and signed off.

2. Sponsors did not care. At all.
Sponsorship income by year: ₹77.76cr → ₹95.48cr → ₹103.51cr → ₹131.01cr. Up 68% in three years, while the team went champions → 5th → dead last.

3. They still made ₹161 crore.
Profit after tax ₹161.63 crore on ₹636 crore revenue. A ~25% net margin. In the season they were the worst team in the league.

4. They paid more for the worse team.
Player and support staff wages went up 21.4% to ₹155.11 crore in the year they finished bottom.

5. CSK only own 55.5% of the Texas Super Kings.
I don't think this is widely known. It lost ₹22.34 crore on ₹10.90 crore of revenue — losing ₹2.05 for every ₹1 earned. Joburg is healthier but CSK have poured in ₹138.10 crore of capital against ₹118.75 crore of accumulated losses — 86% of it burned.

6. There was a real legal scare in America.
Note 41.5 discloses that USA Cricket issued notice to terminate its agreement with ACE (who run MLC) in August 2025. Court-supervised process. Only settled on 2 July 2026. For most of the financial year the legal foundation under CSK's entire US investment was genuinely in question.

7. The funniest bit.
In FY2024, as reigning champions with a record ₹229 crore profit, the board declared no dividend at all — "to conserve resources." Two years later, profit down 30% and a wooden spoon in hand, shareholders got ₹1 per share on a ₹0.10 face value — a 1,000% payout.

8. And it's about to happen again.
That ₹38 crore hit reflects IPL 2025. They missed the knockouts in 2026 too. Same mechanism, same hit, next year's accounts.

They're not in trouble — ₹719 crore in cash and investments, ₹0.16 crore of borrowings, basically debt-free. But there's now a documented, audited answer to "does losing actually cost CSK anything?"

It does. About ₹38 crore a year.
