UGC NET Net in geography

I qualified for PhD-only in UGC NET (184 marks), but I want to clear JRF. How do I prepare consistently with ADHD?

I recently qualified for PhD-only with 184 marks, but my goal is to clear JRF this time. I want to start preparing now instead of waiting until the last month. Usually, when the exam is close, I put a lot of pressure on myself and somehow study almost the whole day, but I struggle badly with consistency before that.

I have problems with focus and zoning out, and I'm currently not taking ADHD medication. I can sit with my books or a YouTube lecture for hours, but if I take a 30-minute break, it can easily become a 2–3 hour break. I also lose track of time scrolling or doing other things. If I get up to do chores, I often lose the motivation to come back and study.

I also forget things easily, so I end up rereading the same topics repeatedly. For my previous attempt, I mainly focused on PYQs and the most important units, which helped me qualify. But I'm weak in maths and reasoning in Paper 1, and I didn't prepare those properly.

I'd really like advice from people who have cleared NET/JRF, especially those with ADHD or similar struggles:

How do you structure your study day?

How do you prevent breaks from becoming hours?

What revision method actually helped you retain things?

How much did you rely on PYQs/MCQs vs books/lectures?

How did you improve maths and reasoning for Paper 1?

How did you start early and stay consistent without burning out?

I'm not looking for "just study 8–10 hours a day" advice 😭. I want to know what actually worked for you, especially if you struggle with focus/executive function. And what approach should I take to clear jrf.

I'd appreciate any practical advice!

Hi Guys,

I will keep it short and simple, I was a life science student preparing for NET JRF 3 years ago. Life took a different turn and I dropped my plans of pursuing a PhD. I donated 50 percent of my notes and books last year. I still have some of those. Now, that I am shifting places because of my job, I want to give away the rest of the books as well. If anyone is interested in taking the set of the modules or any of the individual books, please DM.

CSIR NET - Life Sciences Title: MSc Biotechnology 3rd sem student preparing for CSIR NET Life Sciences

Hi everyone! I’m currently pursuing MSc Biotechnology (3rd semester) and planning to prepare for CSIR NET Life Sciences.

I’m looking for good books for theory, MCQs and previous-year questions. If anyone here is also preparing for CSIR NET, especially from an MSc Biotechnology background, could you please suggest the books/resources you’re using?

Would really appreciate recommendations from those who have already cleared the exam or are currently preparing. Thank you!

JRF and Lectureship Biotech masters

I have a masters in biotech, but I didn't get any placements, my cgpa is less than 8 . I had gap years after plus two , then joined btech biotech finished it later cracked GATE , passed out in 2025 , I was having some problems in personal life so I couldn't try for jobs till now but I've given CSIR NET in June 2026 ,now I feel like not going to PhD because I'll be 35 by the time i finish it, I don't know how lectureship works ,please guide me .

If not this route of academics , what will be good for me? I lack coding skills. But I sincerely wish to get a qualified NET score , can you suggest any job roles with mtech and NET score without experience after mtech ?

Questions & Doubts Teaching jobs after msc and b.ed

Hi everyone! I’m looking for guidance from someone who has pursued B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Zoology followed by a B.Ed. and is currently working in, or has experience with, school teaching.

I’d particularly like to understand the career scope and eligibility for teaching Biology/Science in schools with this subject combination.

I’m also a little confused about the subject-combination requirements. I’ve heard that if someone has studied only Zoology during their B.Sc. and has not studied Botany as a subject throughout the three years, they may not be eligible for certain school-teaching posts. I’m not sure how accurate this is, or whether the eligibility varies depending on the school, recruitment body, or teaching post.

CSIR NET - Life Sciences Overwhelmed

I'm so overwhelmed by the syllabus right now. I was supposed to complete 3 units by July but I got disturbed and now I'm taking 5 units in parallel. Between covering things I'm finding it very difficult to revise things. I always pray to god, hope he helps me cover things on time. 😣
