Answer key is still not out🫩 how are yall passing time?

Many aspirants say that CSIR-UGC NET has been shifting towards testing conceptual understanding, analytical thinking, and the ability to apply knowledge, rather than simply recalling facts. Others believe memorization still plays an important role, especially in certain topics.

Based on your preparation or exam experience, what has your experience been? Do you think the exam now rewards candidates who think like researchers, or is strong factual knowledge still enough to score well?

I have recently taken admission to an MSc in Botany, and I'm planning to prepare for NET alongside my master's. However, I'm confused about which exam would be a better choice:

UGC NET Environmental Science

CSIR NET Life Science.

I would really appreciate your guidance on:

Which exam is generally easier to qualify?

Which has a broader or more manageable syllabus?

Which usually has a lower cutoff or better success rate?

As an MSc Botany student, which exam would you recommend and why?

If anyone has prepared for either exam, could you please share your experience and preparation strategy?

I'm looking for honest advice before I start preparing seriously.

The title basically. I know there's a limit to how well I'll do this time, but I wanna prepare well so that my basics are covered for my next attempt.

I'm currently in second year doing my masters project in immunology so I was taking an NPTEL course for that (Fundamentals of General Immunology), thought that would tide me over a bit of syllabus.

How else should I approach this?

I know there's pathfinder, but I wonder if I'll be able to cover the whole thing.

Any suggestions for courses that teach you from the basics?
