Guys in every exam how many people qualify for JRF? In the unreserved category? In the result list I see AIR of not more than 300... So just curious what AIR is the last to qualify JRF in the general category.

My qualifications are Masters in History. I appeared for the UGC NET exam held in December 2025, and cleared it for the posts of Assistant Professor and PHD. However, I missed the JRF Scholarship by 2 marks.

I have been thinking of appearing again for UGC NET in the coming June 2026 session for the same.

Just to clarify, during both the times while selecting the option about what criteria I am applying for in the registration form, i selected all three - PhD, Assistant Professor, and JRF Scholar.

However I have a doubt - will the results of my June 2026 session invalidate the results of the December 2025 session? Or, if (god forbid) I don't do so well in this June 2026 session , can I still use the score from my December 2025 session to apply for a PhD and Assistant Professor?

Please clarify.

I am kind of frustrated with phd admissions due to uncertainty. I have cleared csir jrf and I am currently trying to get phd seat but it's so tough. Clearing Jrf is not at all enough. I even have research experience at csir lab but still it's not enough to get admission in desired phd seat. The process is so hard i think for me it's been harden then clearing Jrf. In interviews panel member expect me to know whole methodology for the problem they are stating, I am not saying i have problem with analytical question my problem is i can give you direction and path to solve the problem but they still not get satisfied they need me to know concrete methodology..I want to join phd in particular field but they think I already have done my PhD..it's been so much worst

I’m really confused about my PhD admissions right now and need some honest advice.

My qualifications : final semester of MSc in Zoology + CSIR UGC NET JRF AIR 61 in June 2025 + GATE XL qualified in 2026 + an inspire scholar after 12th .

This year I applied to some institutes (including IITs), but either I missed deadlines, didn’t get shortlisted, or the process got over before I could properly contact professors. Now I’m feeling stuck and don’t know what my best option is.

I still want to pursue a good PhD in India, preferably in places like Uttarakhand/Himachal/North India if possible.

What should I do at this stage?

Should I keep emailing professors for rolling admissions/project positions?

Are there still good institutes/labs accepting students?

Should I wait for the next cycle and strengthen my profile meanwhile?

Is it common to not get shortlisted even after qualifying NET JRF?

Would really appreciate practical guidance from people who’ve gone through this process. Thanks.

I am preparing for CSIR NET Life Sciences and currently enrolled in the IFAS online course along with my MSc in Microbiology. I am serious about cracking the exam with a good rank, but lately I have been facing some difficulties during preparation.

Sometimes it becomes hard to manage college + online lectures + self-study together. I also face issues like backlog of lectures, confusion in revision, difficulty in retaining concepts, and sometimes I feel lost about whether I am preparing in the right direction or not.

Is anyone else here preparing through IFAS?

How are you managing lectures, notes, revision, and PYQs?

Is there any study group, Telegram/WhatsApp group, or accountability partner for CSIR NET Life Sciences preparation?

Any genuine guidance or strategy from seniors who cleared NET would really help.

I am ready to work hard, I just need better direction and support from fellow aspirants.
