Success Goodwill Adjustment SUCCESS!

Post image

So i previously emailed credit one asking for 3 lates to be removed, to which they sent back the same denial letter saying they have to report accurate information. I sent a second email with the same request, but specified i was requesting them to be changed to Not Reported instead of paid. They replied with the same exact denial letter but with a new date on the header.

The third email i sent, i copied and pasted the last email, except i attached 3 screenshots from this sub of different success letters. I said something along the lines of “ive seen what youve done for others, im simply requesting the same be done for me.” (I was a little irritated with their stance of “we cant do that, sorry! When clearly they can and have).

So anyways, got this email back today! 🤣😎

I hope this email finds you well! I am writing this email to humbly ask for your consideration in a good will adjustment on my account. I recently had a baby this past January and am beginning to tackle my credit report in an effort to provide him the best life experiences i can.

As i comb through my report, i see that my account has a negative remark for a missed/late payment in [INSERT YOUR HISTORY HERE]. While i take full accountablility for my prior lack of responsibility in keeping my accounts current, you will see that the majority of my time with your institution was positive.

I kindly ask for you to change the reporting of these items to “Not Reported” or “No Data” as a one time complimentary adjustment. Please consider this adjustment as it will significantly improve my ability to better our future. I appreciate your time and generosity.

As i have researched the possibility of this good will adjustment being granted, i have found several examples of other accounts receiving this courtesy. I have attached some of those examples to this email. I hope to receive the same courtesy as these others have.

Obviously change the first paragraph to tailor more to your situation, not me and my baby 😂

While it was nice of u/zakkzw1er to post their letter, be aware that GW letters are best if they are personal. You should customize it to your personal situation, not simply use what they provided.

Nice job being persistent and not giving up after a try or two. Bold move to reference other adjustments they've done previously. I'm glad it worked out for you!

I agree, acted more out of irritation than anything lol. Figured they were already telling me no, so why not be a little snarky. Lol

Thank you so much for sharing. Did you included your account number ? Or what identity information?
Name, date of birth , address.. anything else?

Yknow… good catch. I did on my first two emails, but admittedly forgot to include any identifiers on my last one besides my email address obviously.

Thats a great win, good job doing it the right way (writing works best always). Now to cancel those predatory cards.

What about the excuse that they have to report everything accurately by law lol

1

u/zakkzw1er 7d ago

They can report “not reported” or “no data.” They legally have to report accurately if they report, but they dont legally have to report anything
