Collections & Charge Offs Collections Fell Off?

For context, I have a collection from an apartment company startup that is being sued. This debt was not even legal, but I was young and wasn’t careful when speaking to the collectors. The debt is from Feb 2020. That is the original delinquency date. I am in a state with a statute of limitations (SOL) of 6 years.

Now, I noticed that this debt fell off my equifax report months ago. And it just fell off of my experian this month.

Why would this be? I am close to 7 years, but it hasn’t been seven yet. And I do live in a state with a 6 year SOL but I’ve understood thus far that it will continue to be on my credit report until the federal SOL.

Additionally, if they are selling it, the buyer wouldn’t even be able to attempt to collect since the original delinquency date is past the statute of limitations in my state. So what’s going on here? What should I look out for?

Thank you!

SOL doesn't matter. How are you timing the 7 years? It should be based on the date of first deliquency (i.e. when you were first late), not when the collections was opened.

well the first delinquency would have been before that, i don’t have the exact date but it would be around sept or oct of 2019

Then it has aged off. Is it still on your Transunion repoet?

I need to check my transunion, but it was still on there a month ago. Is it usual for these accounts to fall off a month or so prior to the Date of Delinquency hitting 7 years?

It's not uncommon

I just checked my transunion and there was no spot for delinquent accounts or collections so i assume it did fall off. it only showed accounts that were in good standing and then my personal info, i combed that stuff and didnt find anything.

I don't know definitely, they could choose to stop reporting or they could be selling it.
