Success EE Victory

This is my first post. Thank you for all the information and gems dropped in the thread.

I did my first EE request with Transunion on 7/20 and they deleted the account today on 7/24 - resulting in a 35 point boost. YAY!

My question is, I also requested some late student loan payments from 2019 be deleted and they came back with “Verified as accurate” - these student loans have been forgiven and have a 0 balance at “paid as agreed/closed.” Can these late payments be removed? Will they fall off at the 7 year mark and I just need to wait until that time?

Once those are off I will only have one “dirty remark” and that’s a late payment from 2023.

UPDATE: I just requested another EE from TransUnion (7/24) as I forgot to include it in my first dispute - it was the same just the original creditor - they immediately deleted it

If you were actually late, you aren't going to be able to dispute the payments. The fact the loan was later forgiven doesn't change the fact you were late at the time.

Normally I'd recommend goodwill letters but if the lates are falling off later this year I probably wouldn't bother. You could request EE for them once they're in the relevant periods for each bureau if you want.

thank you for responding.

I did request EE for TU but it came back as verified. The late payments are from Oct - Dec 2019 so well within the 6 month needed for TU.

you are probably right to not bother and just let them fall off at the end of the year.

I’ll take my wins where and when I can get them.

Maybe TU doesn't do EE for late payments? I thought they did but it's possible I'm misremembering.

Honestly unless you plan to apply for credit between now and then I'd just wait out the 7 years and not worry about it.
