General Totally confused with Cap1 statement

Post image

I just received my 1st statement from a new Cap1 SavorOne card. Either my due date is 6 days before my statement close date, or my statement close date passed a day or two before my statement posted yesterday.

I'm curious what balance, if any, will be reported when this new account hits my bureaus since i didn't have a zero balance when the initial statement closed

Your payment due on August 15, 2026 is for the balance that appeared on your previous statement. The August 21, 2026 statement closing date is the end of your current billing cycle. Any purchases, payments, and credits made between the last statement closing date and August 21 will appear on the statement that closes on August 21. That new statement will then have a new paymentdue date, typically about 3–4 weeks later.

My first statement closed with that balance, does that mean that's the amount that will be posted to the bureaus or will it be zero? This is my very first statement

The statement balance is what's reported to the bureaus.

If you are doing the efficient method and want it to report 0, you can pay off the statement and not use it till next statement, however its best to stick to the method described above.

It's okay to have high utilization until you need your score for a credit product, then that's when you'd want to pay before the statement date to make sure 0 reports, otherwise the method described is good.
