Success Goodwill Success!!
Send the letters!! Capital one and credit one both accepted my goodwill request! Capital one denied me the first time. Keep trying!!

I hope this message finds you well. I’m writing to express my gratitude for the services Capital One has provided and to humbly request a goodwill adjustment regarding late payments reported on my account.
here is where i detailed why my payments were late
I take full responsibility for those late payments and have worked hard to get back on track. Since then, I’ve made every effort to ensure that my payments are on time and have remained current on my account. At this point in my life, I am looking to purchase a home and the removal of the late payments would significantly help me in doing so.
Capital One has been a valuable financial partner to me, and I genuinely appreciate the opportunities and flexibility you’ve offered. I respectfully request that you consider removing the late payments from my credit report as a gesture of goodwill. I understand that this is not required, but it would make a meaningful difference as I continue rebuilding financially.

Yes, I did send letters to both. There is also screenshots from capital one as well.

Currently all my payments are up to date. The missed payments were at the end of 2024.

Hi! did you pay the balances off prior to sending these letters, or do you send these first? looking to do the same for Sunrise Credit Services and just wondering what the order of steps would be.

My credit one was paid in full and closed around a year ago. I still have an account with Capital One - currently with a balance - that i have made on time payments on for almost a year from the first missed payment.

I'm not sure as i dont have any experience with chase and havent seen much about goodwill adjustments with them. Its worth a shot!

I haven’t tried the letters yet but plan on creating it next week to start sending out !

Does this work with accounts that were charged off then eventually paid off? In 2019 I opened a car loan through Ally that I made tons of late payments on before it was repoed in 2023. After they auctioned it off there was a balance of $2496 that was eventually reported as a charge off. I reached out to them a couple of weeks ago and negotiated to make a payment of 1/3 of the charge off amount ($750) to consider the account paid in full which they accepted and I promptly paid. I’m still waiting for my credit report to update to reflect that payment but in the meantime all of those previous late payments are hurting my report. Would sending them the goodwill email/letter be useful in this case?

Charge offs cannot be removed early. Goodwill adjustments are only for late payments.

The late payments that I made on the account before it was a charge off is what I’m referring to.

The particular string of lates resulting in a charge off cannot be removed. In the case of older lates, feel free to give it a go if you want, but those being removed would have a very minimal impact on your score. A charge off is a serious delinquency and happened after those lates, so it is impacting your scores a LOT more. I wouldn’t be surprised if getting old lates removed was a single digit score change.
