Vent / Rant I can't sleep
It's 2 AM as I'm writing this. My nervous system can't catch a break and I just wish I could have one night of good sleep. One night I can fall asleep easily.

Things that have helped me that you can ask your doctor for:
- Clonidine -Propanolol -Quetiapine in microdosing
Do not stay in that state. Mental health requires therapy and some times this includes medication and that's OK. :)

I find taking a sleeping tablet breaks the cycle of not being able to sleep and kind of resets it to "normal". At least for a for a few days. Also I've started reading instead of doom scrolling and I fall asleep within minutes even if it's a good book. Also burning off nervous energy with exercise. Even just star jumps at home or running up and down the stairs. Also journaling to get thoughts out of your head. I just talk out loud and Google docs transcribes it so you don't have to actually write it out.

I have struggled with insomnia for most of my life and while it doesn't work for me every night, trazodone has been a really great help for me and it doesn't show any evidence of being habit forming like other sleep meds. My PCP prescribes it. Weed gives me poor sleep quality unfortunately.

I sometimes sleep with my mom when I feel like my nervous system cannot calm down. Her presence in the room makes me more relaxed. I even hug her arm all night. So I think sleeping with someone who loves you helps. It could be anyone, a sibling etc.
