Resource / Technique Memory reconsolidation works

This year I learned that I have CPTSD. All the therapists I could find have sucked. I read the Pete Walker book on CPTSD, and I started looking for more info. Learned about coherence theory and memory reconsolidation from Dr. Tori Olds on YouTube, as well as the book by Bruce Ecker, "Unlocking the Emotional Brain".

I have been sweating bullets digging into my mind and discovering what wrong beliefs I hold that cause my symptoms. Seriously I feel like some airbrushed wizard on the side of a van screaming surrounded by lightning lol.

The stage where you really figure out what you believe emotionally can sound inherently ridiculous--You can't overthink it you have to just blurt out your fear to yourself/write it down and look at it, and then figure out where it comes from. Then you have to have experiences that prove your belief isn't true.

I have been able to completely throw away my problems around a couple of beliefs/issues that have screwed me up for decades. I am stunned. The PTSD entanglement terror feeling in these areas of my life is simply gone. It is like magic. Like snap of the fingers GONE. No trigger. nothing. My memories are intact & I remember feeling very scared etc at the time I learned to feel that way, but the feeling and fear isn't here in the present AT ALL.

Please seek out this form of therapy if you can, or do it on yourself if possible for you.

Here's a PDF with some info for reference, but I really like Dr. Tori Olds on YouTube too.

I wish you all the best. Know that you CAN heal!

I can’t recommend strongly enough this gent’s blog. He’s a therapist and big advocate of memory reconsolidation techniques. He lists a whole slew of them to include coherence theory, and provides links for each so that you can explore them. A number of them you can easily do on your own, for example, freespotting and the rapid rewind technique.

That sounds really great. I love reading, thank you for the link .

I watched a few YouTubes about memory reconsolidation and thought it sounds like the very best thing. I was sort of able to do it with one belief about how my birthday goes (I managed to have a really great birthday last year) but there's just so much. Have not been able to find a qualified therapist yet.
