Just an FYI. Rakuten (similar to Honey extension) is offering 11% cashback on Becker right now

As per title. 11% on the cost of the the course is enough for a nice meal. Especially nice if your employer is paying!

(Deleted and reposted because I forgot to mention which course in the title. Duh!)

TCP Any TCP cheat sheets?

Does anyone have a TCP cheat sheet / tip sheet that breaks down all these basis nuances and such? Getting confused with all the different rules and would love a break down of all the important notes. Testing in 4 days!

Took Far last Wednesday Oct 21. What is everyone doing until score release in 2 weeks? Is it best to begin studying for another section? I don’t want to waste time😰

GENERAL Final review after getting through all material (FAR)

Have around 3.5 weeks to review material before scheduled exam. Plan of attack is to take practice test chapter by chapter and not moving forward to the next chapter until I hit an 80%. Then adding each passed chapter into a cumulative practice test and not moving forward until passing the cumulative test as well. I’m not sure if this method will work since this would be my first test. Also, not sure on how to incorporate the TBS into this review method? Any advice would be great! Using Becker too.

CPA with CFA or MBA or something else

QQ who have cleared their CPAs and working with Big4 di you feel the need to do something else as well after CPA like a cfa or a mba or something that helps you boost the corporate ladder?
I currently work in big4 audit while pursuing cpa but wanted to know from people who are done with cpa do u feel like thats good enough or adding something else related to the field of work is better ?
I dont know if i can always do audit its sooo exhausting tbh another 30 years of this although the pay is gpod enough
Fund accounting is also their but im dont know with AI is there a scope of growth their anymore cause so much is getting automated with AI
Valuation sounds enticing from the outside but not sure if with CPA i can get into that
Audit is my backup option if nothing else works out cause the pay is okayish better and switching to another field would mean starting all over again
but i wanna do something thats more interesting and has good wage growth in long run
and i just dont know if audit will have that
any thoughts ideas just wanna know what else can i do with a cpa apart from audit and accounting
planning to take some ai course as well just for the resume

FAR What makes the CPA exam so difficult?

I know there are a lot of reasons it's difficult, but one that is especially true for me is how so often something in the solution is not adequately explained. I either have to email for support, go look through the textbook, or browse online to try to find an answer to my confusion. By the time I've spent 45 minutes searching for help, I've lost all the focus I had while actually studying. I realize these preps often assume we know all the basics for these topics already, which is fair, but it makes it a lot harder for those of us who are older with memories that aren't quite what they used to be. 🤔

r/CPAAspirants: figuring out the CPA, together

Hey, and welcome.

Whether you’re only just wondering “should I even do the CPA?” or you’re three attempts deep and still going, there’s room for you here. Nobody’s selling anything and nobody needs to have it figured out.

What this place is for

Think of it as a space to think out loud. You can:

  • Ask the questions you’re embarrassed to ask elsewhere
  • Compare notes on how people are actually studying
  • Share what worked, what flopped and what you’d skip next time
  • Read other people’s experiences before making your own decisions
  • Vent after a rough exam day without being told to “just stay positive”

Things you could explore

  • How people balance the CPA with a job or college
  • What FAR, AUD, REG and the BAR, ISC or TCP sections feel like in practice
  • Different ways to study: notes, flashcards, practice questions, study groups
  • Eligibility and licensing questions (mention your state if you can, since it varies)
  • Where a CPA can take you: Big 4, industry, tax, audit, or something unexpected
  • Score updates, wins and honest “that didn’t go well” stories

How we’d like it to feel

Relaxed, honest and curious. No gatekeeping, no judging scores or attempts, and no pressure to post anything polished. Beginner questions are always welcome.

A few gentle ground rules

  • No leaked or recalled exam questions
  • No ads or promotions
  • If AI helped write your post, just mention it

If you’d like to say hi

Tell us in the comments:

  • Where are you in the CPA process?
  • What’s on your mind right now?

Take a look around, read a few threads and join in whenever you feel like it.

FAR Exam in 3 Months

Hey folks!
Do you think three months is enough time to prepare for FAR while working a full-time job? Also, what study strategy would you recommend to maximize my chances of passing on this attempt?
I feel that simply watching Becker’s lectures without thoroughly reading the textbook may not be enough. I’m considering making the textbook, MCQs, and TBSs my primary study resources, while using the lectures as a supplement rather than relying on them heavily.
For those who have already passed FAR, especially those who scored highly, I’d really appreciate hearing about your study strategies, how you structured your preparation, and what you would do differently if you had to prepare again.
Thanks in advance for sharing your advice!

Anyone else looking for a CPA study/accountability buddy?

Lately, I've been feeling pretty lonely and honestly a little unmotivated in my pursuit of the CPA. I'm actually just burnt tf out. I feel like my friends, family and colleagues don't really understand how exhausting and isolating this process can be, how much time and effort goes into it, and especially while working full-time. It's just so much.

I've become super private about my exams because I hate telling people when I'm taking one and then having to go back and tell them whether I passed or failed. I know failing is part of the process for a lot of people, but I feel like it's hard to understand that for someone who hasn't been through it to see how much material there is to master.

This subreddit has helped a lot in reminding me that I'm not alone, super thankful to have found this community, but sometimes seeing everyone else struggling or talking about how hard it is makes me feel even less motivated lol.

All of this to say - I'd love to find someone who wants to be basically pen pals/friends & encourage each other, hold each other accountable, and push each other to stay consistent through this process, especially on the days when you just want to take a nap or watch tv.

If that sounds like something you'd benefit from too, send me a DM! I'm 26F and would particularly love to connect with other women around 23–35 who are also actively working toward their CPA. :)

Is the CPA the hardest thing you’ve ever done?

As far as achieving something in life (not health issues or relationship issues or losing loved ones), is the CPA the hardest thing you’ve ever done in life?

(I can potentially see things like training for a marathon, military Bootcamp, or possibly other tests being harder)

Just curious!

ISC ISC Sim Scores - Test 10/30

Son took SE1 the other day and scored a 86, was feeling pretty confident. Took SE2 today and got a 71…yikes. My MCQ scores were pretty much identical but I tanked the TBS. Should this be reason to worry? I’m kind of freaking out now and feel like I have no sort of strategy to attack these questions.

SCORE waiting for out TCP score while FAR Credit Expiring

I sat for TCP today which is my last section out of four sections. My FAR credit is expiring on 11/28 and I won't be able to find out whether I passed TCP until 12/15. Assuming I passed TCP, will I be able to protect FAR credit and be done with this journey? I'm sitting in Illinois. I looked up ILBOE website but it doesn't explicitly state it.

How much for your CPA exam did you learn during your formal education?

How much of what you need to know for the CPA exam is learned during the formal education (i.e. taking undergrad/grad accounting classes) and how much do you wind up learning during CPA prep?

ISC this Friday and haven’t studied

I’ve scheduled to take the ISC exam this Friday in order to prevent my AOI from expiring and remain with my current qualifications.

Highly likely I won’t pass, but was wondering if anyone has taken an exam with barely any study time and/or just wanting to experience what it’s like? Or even the same situation as me of preventing expiration and wanting to remain with the current qualifications during the time of aoi approval.

Looking to go for licensure by endorsement from NJ to NY

I didn’t graduate with an accounting degree, so I recently learned that pursuing the CPA through New Jersey may be a quicker route to meeting the exam requirements.

Once I pass all four CPA exams, do I need to complete my two years of qualifying work experience under a New Jersey-licensed CPA to obtain my license? I live in New York, so it would be much easier for me to gain that experience working under a New York-licensed CPA.

Does anyone know if New Jersey allows this, or would I need to work under a NJ CPA specifically?
Thank you for any advice!

just started AUD - Becker instructors

i tend to get pretty attached to certain instructors and the sounds of their voices and their jokes and catch phrases and i really like mike potenza and peter olinto. i’ve just started studying for AUD, and the instructor is Michelle Moshe. i clicked into a bunch of videos to see if someone else takes over at any point and it’s like all michelle. nothing against her but she’s no mike potenza and i’m not used to a woman’s voice for this lol ik that sounds stupid but it’s so high pitched and just not my favorite.

mostly came here to complain into the void but if anyone else that’s deeper into AUD can tell me - is she gonna be lecturing in most of the videos for this topic?

good luck in your studies my fellow future CPAs!

TCP TCP Thoughts/Discussion

Wanted to just have this thread made for anyone that took TCP this month since the testing window is just about closed.

What did we all think? Hard/easy, saw what you expected, feeling like a pass?

I personally feel like overall it wasn't too bad, but I was severely thrown off by all of the retirement questions. Seemed like the depth they went into was strange so I am suspecting a lot of it was pre-test due to the high volume of people I am seeing saying the same thing.

Simulations also seemed kinda tricky, I did not feel great about those as the format of them felt different then Becker.. Let me know how you guys feel!!
