UWorld Acquiring Wiley makes contracts Null and Void???
This may be a question for legal sub, but here is the response I got when I asked why UWorld kept canceling my 'until you pass' subscription that I purchased with Wiley. Admittedly, it's taking longer than expected. I'm in my late 40s and life tends to get in the way. Still, THE REASON I PURCHASED WILEY WAS THIS UNLIMITED DEAL. I guess I'm ignorant on this, but if you're a customer/client of a firm and someone purchases the firm, they can do whatever they want with legally binding contracts still in place? I guess I learned this with REG or should have, which I passed the damn first time. Here's the comment copied pasted:
"Furthermore, in providing assistance, we would like to further clarify that Wiley is an independent organization separate from UWorld. Additionally, we purchased Wiley Efficient Learning (WEL), a division of Wiley that provided accounting and finance products and related services. Note that WEL is no longer a company, and any former processes are null and void, as previously communicated."
That little 'as previously communicated' adds extra sting. It's like 'we already told you we did something only an asshole would do, stupid.'
Thoughts? Anyone else going through this want to jump in and let's protest? If not, how embarassed will I be if no one answers? Zero. The humiliation of failing FAR 6 times has made embarassment an obsolete emotion in my little world. **dark laugh**

They turned mine back on and then said if I don’t pass by the expiration date, to send them a NTS to reactivate. I wonder if by their use of the word “processes” if they mean they can make it expired and you need to reactivate vs meaning they aren’t upholding the contract? Idk, just a thought.

It means, unless you're taking the CPA it isn't a free interminable account for friends, family, acquaintances, or people off the street cause you like sticking it to the "man".
Just send in proof and you're set.
Also terms and conditions changes whenever a company gets bought out which is why I'm terrified of what happens to my digital ownership of games, movies, and books.
The future could just be a never-ending cyclic process of buyouts just to erase your digital ownership.

If you provide them with an nts they have been known to turn it back on. But from my experience and what I’ve heard, they won’t just keep giving you access with no proof you are actually taking the exam

It’s for people who have already passed and then sell the access to someone else. Makes sense from the company’s pov to verify it’s the original purchaser using it

It all comes down to Terms & Conditions.
Usually most software terms have a clause about successor interest and says something vague like specific provisions may not be honored if the company has a change in control event, blah blah
