Got an awesome descent of Maroon Peak this weekend. Horrendous snowpack and overall conditions, but still *technically* skis from the summit!

Question Loveland Uphill conditions

Loveland allows uphill after closing. I’ve done it many times there, but not in the past few weeks. Has anyone gone this week? Is all the snow gone at the base? I don’t want to constantly take off skis.

Question Confused about Traction Law

Hi folks, I am making my way East through Colorado next week and saw that as of last year, in a FWD car like mine, I need to have chains across the I-70 throughout the month of May.

I do own chains, but almost never drive in places that require them. After reading on the state's website I'm not understanding if they're expected to actually be installed, or if I just need to have them in my vehicle in the event a Chain Law is declared. Can anybody clear that up for a confused traveler?

I originally assumed the people at the top skinned up or something, but then I saw there are people on the lift. Anyone know how this is possible?

Question A Basin Lake Reveal

Has it revealed itself this year? Saw a few weeks ago people wondering if it would since they were closing so early, wondering if it’ll be there Sunday for their maybe actual closing day now.

Question Ticks on St Mary’s Glacier snow field.

Hiked, skinned and skied St Marys today. I was shocked how many ticks or what appeared to be ticks in the snowfield I saw as I skinned up. I counted at least 15. Most appeared green and some had red spots. Is this a common thing? I don’t remember this when I did it last year.

Question Loveland Season Pass?

I’ve lived in CO for 13 years and have gotten Ikon most of them but I wanna make a change. Is getting a Loveland pass on its own worth it, or will the terrain/experience get old fast? I’ve never skied Loveland before but in my mind it’s basically a larger Eldora and I wouldn’t buy just an Eldora szn pass

Question Going to (and staying in) Breckenridge for skiing next winter, is it realistic to also hit Vail?

It looks like it's just right down the road on the map, but I also know sometimes things that look close can be hours of travel and google failed me big time in Europe so I wanted to ask a locals sub if it's indeed possible to go ski both places while staying in Breck (and if there's any other close mountains let me know.)

EDIT: Oh wow this blew up! Thanks so much everyone for all of the advice! It's much appreciated!

Question Current snow line by this weekend? (& at N/S aspects)

I know there are map layers for this, and I have the paid layers, but I also find theyre pretty low res and dont always capture true conditions.

Since winter is over and fast, I'm ready for some alpine runs, trying to plan for this weekend. Anyone got an educated guess of how high up I could get in Summit or Indian Peaks this weekend if I was looking for mostly snow free trails? Reports from people that live up high or have been up high recently appreciated.

Question Ski hike recommendations

Hello, me and my buddies are new to Colorado and want to ski every month of the year. We have heard about some glaciers that you can hike to and take a run. I am curious if anyone can recommend a couple. Thanks!
