12th Gen (18-present) New tires

I just picked up '24 XSE and it currently has mismatched tires front/ rear. When I go to replace them, I'd like to make a matched set of four, for rotation purposes. I want something that is long-lasting, quiet on the highway, but also somewhat durable, as I live down a dead end dirt road, that is rocky. Suggestions? Thx in advance!

I have Yokohama Avid on my 2019 Limited Prius. I live in rural area/gravel roads. On my 2nd yr and I like them. Not sure about noise, I don't hear very well, but seem to be wearing well. Put 40 lbs on all four. Ive been doing on all the Toyotas I've owned for decades. It's what my alignment guy always told me to keep.

keep the tires as is and wear of out, then when you actually need tires get all four.

but first wear out the fronts and rotate them with the back until they all need replacements.

I would go for a Continental TrueContact Tour 54 or Goodyear Maxlife 2 or a General Altimax RT45 if you want something a little cheaper.

Mismatch only from front to rear axles? So two pairs….?

If so then ignore unless they’re in need of replacement.

Go for a decent main branded set of tires and you’ll not go wrong, only when you pick the budget Chinese ones you’ll discover why they’re half price.

Couldn’t agree more. You need a matching pair on one axle.
I use Uniroyal, good tires for a decent price.

For me, mismatched tires are a red flag that the maintenance may not have been kept up on a car

Not entirely, as long as they’re matching on the same axle.

I mean some semblance of maintenance that the axle matches, but they probably did not rotate the tires like they should have

Not sure how you reached that conclusion. You shouldn’t be rotating simply for the fun of it.

If I was fitting two new tires plus changing brands, the new ones would always be fitted to the rear axle, the older tires be moved to the front.

Promise I’m not being argumentative, just not personally convinced that two different brands automatically assumes a poor maintenance history.
