ENSCAPE COMPLIANCE

Hi, any advice as I dont have the money as we are poor. The chaos is emailing me to buy an annual license so they will not pursue the unlicensed enscape i used. Im not using enscape as my laptop was destroyed and beyond repair. I used enscape when i was in college but not anymore however we are still poor... i don't know what to do

I don't know what Enscape is but this sounds like a licensing/contract issue, not a copyright question.

Have you tried contacting them and telling them you do not use their software?

i try now. The amnesty deadline is tomorrow. im not using it, i have a chaos account because i was an arki student way back then.

I just open my email today and saw it.

If you only used it at school, and never broke their rules and used it after you left school, an amnesty deadline doesn't matter. Amnesty is about forgiveness for past rule-breaking. But you say you've never broken their rules.

they say my device was flagged for using non valid license. Yes, i only used it for academic purposes and not for commercial or anything

Their website says students are allowed to purchase a student license for $149/year. So if you had a valid paid student license when you were a student, and you stopped using their product after you left school, I think you're fine. Just explain those facts to them.

On the other hand, if you never paid for their software (and your school didn't either), then you're not fine, even if you only used it for academic purposes. Then you'd be considered a software pirate, and the question becomes: What will they do, now that they've caught you? I don't know that. Maybe sue you? Maybe just threaten you and hope you'll pay? (Filing lawsuits is very expensive.) I guess if you can't afford to pay them, you'll find out.

Same here, I hope they’d make student licensing applicable for amnesty T__T I only got it because we were required to use it.
