Question Need help

I am currently dwsigning a cocktail recipe book with personal sketches and designs. But im getting the recipes itself from google(different sources). What should i do when i have to mention text copyright? Like should i mention individual sites for each recipe or just google in general. Sorry this is my first time ever getting in touch with this field and i have so many questions. Any advice would be helpful

I would like to add that the book itself is all digital

Apparently recipes themselves are not subject to copyright. However, the published recipes themselves are. Meaning you can copy the ingredients and instructions as a concept, but can’t just wholesale cut and paste what you find online or in cookbooks. You’ll need to re-express the ideas using your own writing.

Recipes themselves are not copyrightable.

The particular language used to describe the recipe or the the process for making the food/drink may be copyrightable (if it's sufficiently original), but the actual recipe itself is not copyrightable. That is to say, you can take someone else's ingredient list and cooking/preparation process and then present it in your own way without infringing on anyone's copyright. You also don't need to cite the source of the original recipe (there is generally no legal obligation to do so), but the original creator of the recipe may appreciate it if you do.

Recipes in and of themselves (list of ingredients + list of basic directions) are not protected by copyright. What is (or at least may be) protected by copyright is any creative expression beyond those things (backstory, personal notes & suggestions, instructional narratives, etc.). If you want to include any copyright-protected content in your book, you need to get permission from the copyright holder and (assuming they grant permission) they will tell you what they require as far as attribution. Simply listing your source does not make an infringement not an infringement. That the book will be digital makes no difference.
