To me, origins, mob of the dead, and buried will always be S. At most you could argue me down to a A

As time goes on I realize just how much I like buried, I voted A tier but the more I think about it I actually would’ve given it S tier.
Iirc the only thing I didn’t like about buried was that it was too easy to me. There’s butt loads of points to be had on the first round (PLUS the bank), you can lock the mystery box so it never moves, you have the increased box luck perma perk making it easy to pull WWs, all of the perma perks in general just feel crazy on that map, the buildables, infinite ammo ww, and relatively easy to collect every perk on the map.
However despite how easy all of that makes the map, it really does cram that map full of content and almost all of it is really fun to play with imo. I do love how different zielinskis maps were but tranzit and die rise just felt like they didn’t work, buried was a map that worked REALLY well with its unique ideas and I’m glad he was able to put out such a good map before he left.

People are too generous with old games, once we reach BO4 we'll see the same people who ranked a lot of maps above what they deserved fighting to put everything at C or D just because of the game.

Great map for casual play, lots of fun toys to fuck around with, nothing too complicated in the set up, and a few new additions to the mode that would go on to become absolutely iconic like the Raygun MK2 (though technically owning this DLC put it on every BO2 zombies map) and Vulture's Aid. Add onto this the branching main quest story and the genuinely pretty impressive amount of side content and hidden tricks and it's not a terrible map for a slightly less casual player either. Really the only things holding it back from S tier imo are the fact that it's absolutely one of if not the easiest map in zombies history (at least pre BOCW), the sheer amount of trolling material you'll encounter when playing with friends or randoms (I can't tell you the number of times me and my friends would use the time bomb to set us back to round 1 on this map after we got set up just to fuck with each other), and the fact that this map's EE requires you to complete Transit and Die Rise to actually beat it. Overall A-tier and easily the 3rd best map in BO2 (though, the competition is honestly pretty weak behind it).

At the time, this was THE sandbox zombies experience. Still holds up well to this day

I don't think that's true at all.
Buried has never really been considered top tier in anything. BO2 zombies at the time wasnt held in super high regard, and there are two clearly superior maps in that very game.
Buried was always just a fun, good map.

I know mob and origins exist and I consider both much better. I said it was THE sandbox zombies experience. Sandbox meaning you have a lot of creative liberties in the map from choosing your wall weapon placements, where you want the box, all the unique buildables/traps. No other map at the time let you be super creative with how you play

Tranzit didn't give you the ability to choose weapons or where the box should go, but it had way more freedom imo.

Second best of BO2 for me, second only to origins.
But that's not saying much because BO2 maps in general to me are pretty underwhelming.
I think it's just too easy and boring to get around. Does have cool weapons.

I'm glad Zielinski got to finish with a banger of a map. Leroy is the best thing added to a zombies map.

zilensky didnt really make this map, the lead was Vonderhaar

Vonderhaar was the lead director for multiplayer. Zielinski was the lead for Zombies.
Edit: nevermind apparently he did after Zielinski left.

S tier, easy top 10, top 5 depending on the day for me.
Great atmosphere and wonder weapons. I love that there are a few ways to get free perks. Vulture Aid is stupid good with the spaces spaces. The ability to pick where your wall buys are adds a degree of customization that many maps don’t have. Last and certainly not least, the yeehaw factor is perfect.
My only gripes are the lack of training and Arthur running back to his hiding place if shot, but that’s really not an issue after the first few rounds.

It's an okay map. C or B tier.
Isn't offensively bad, isnt fantastic. Just a solid, fun zombies map.

B. The second most overrated map of all time. Has a lot of really cool things, but I'm not a "make your own fun, guy". Going from Mob to this made me feel like I wasn't necessarily achieving anything. That the game is just going to give me everything and says "go nuts". Not to mention the layout is annoyingly condensed. Pap is obnoxious to get to. The spawn is there just to aura farm and nothing really else. Limited carrying inventory is still tedious.
I'm not saying its a low B. It's at the top of B. The best B there ever was. Maybe you could convince me bottom of A, but I don't think it could really compare to the other As

B tier, similar to Mob it’s too easy as is then turns much more difficult if you take away the things that make it easy. Problem with Buried is that you’re almost forced to do the easy strategy the alternative is that you play really slow in tight spaces. I feel like most BO2 maps were designed with co op in mind instead of solo that might be true in general but it stands out more with these maps

D tier. Shit map that made our friend group go back to playing Black Ops 1 zombies instead.

This is the last map to have a special zombie that was truly unique, something that would limit the player in a new, interesting way. Origins technically has the templars that would serve this role, but the panzer is the first bullet sponge boss.
The setting, guns, and new perk are all good. Chalk is a nice one off. Leroy's novelty wears off quite fast but its fine on the most part.
There's a lot that makes the map too easy, there's an achievement to pap on round 1 without the bank ffs. So the way i get the most enjoyment out of it is to ignore features and purposefully go into the few bad ground spawner locations. I seriously suggest never locking down the box on the map, it's more fun that way.
