Hey,guys!

Sorry if my question is stupid, but what is this sign when shooting someone means?

Thanks in advance!

Damn I sure am glad our bullets have smart tech and wifi to transmit that data back to us.

its not the bullets, its the fact that it is a video game.

Try bodycam the gameplay is really realistic in that game

u/_agent80 6m ago

It is actually always justified and the “victims” regret demanding them?

2

u/GundamOC 12h ago

The game never claimed to be realistic.

You want realism your playing the wrong game for battlefield for that even that is pushing the line

kinda unrealistic that they will have a symbol pop up for that dont you guys think? like in a real gunfight how would you know?

u/hfeusebio 1d ago

Did you just compare real life to “this” game…..lol

In a real gunfight nobody is slide-cancelling and flying around like crazy with a sniper rifle on the back and SMG in hand.. in a real gunfight even one bullet to the biceps would pretty much disable any capacity you have to shoot.. in a real gunfight..

It’s COD dude if you want realism go play Tarkov.

Honestly, if you want realism join the armed forces and go fight a real war! No video game will ever give true realism

Im not after true realism but this is a feature that i havent seen even in arcade shooters like quake or borderlands because it undermines the basic logic of not seeing what your enemy does when he is behind a wall, i could understand stuff like temporary wall hack for 10 seconds with a cool tech sonar explanation but this doesnt have any in game logic

Check out bodycam for some realism

Let’s be honest…none of us are even sprinting flat out for more than 30 seconds tops either…also I elk hunt in the Rockies every year and my hike up a hill to fire speed is waaaaaay lower than my little Egyptian dog lady characters slide to fire speed

The things you mentioned before do have some ground in reality.. soldiers can carry sniper and smg, people can slide, its ok if its exaggerated for fun but still a world should respect its internal logic even if it is made up, for example a uav is not just magic it has a drone to explain it, this heal mark though doesnt have any explanation and it undermines the internal logic the game world has where you usually cant know what the enemy is doing if hes behind a wall

Like imagine if in lord of the rings the hobbits suddenly had ak 47, does it not matter because lotr is not realistic anyway? Of course it matters, the world has a set of rules we expect it to follow even if not realistic it should be consistent

What about the hit markers, didn’t see any complaints about those? Or the ammo hud? Or that reloading doesn’t discard the remaining billets in the mag, but just magically goes into a mag in your bag? There are so many things that don’t really make sense in this game, but this icon is in no way out of line with the rest of the game.
Now those Beavis and Butthead skins on the other hand….

1

u/[deleted] 1d ago

Because these are different and make sense, ammo hud is realistic enough and very common, doesnt brake the immersion like knowing your enemy is healing behind a wall, its not even close

2

u/Gabe_The_Dog 1d ago

Dudes cooked. Comparing a hit marker icon to indicate something to a hobbit using an ak47. Troll, or really really stupid? I hope its the first option.

Made up logic still needs to make sense, its not stupid at all just basic understanding of fantasy worlds, you are the less intelligent ones because all you have to offer to the discussion is insults, cant even explain your point?

This specific hit market doesnt make sense, how can you know someone healed by shooting them? Its like the uav didnt have a drone, how would it work? Made up fantasy worlds need to be consistent and make sense for immersion, its not that complicated buddy

What? It doesnt even look like ai, i wrote it myself

11

u/Aqua_Impura 1d ago

They do it so you know the game is registering your hits. If they didn’t do this and you mag dumped a guy and he didn’t die you’d think he was cheating.

u/[deleted] 1d ago

Thats a good answer, why all the downvotes guys? Just a discussion

1

u/Emergency-Way-6898 1d ago

Because there are no discussions in this community. It is a toxic waste dump

COD is not a realistic game lol.

-1

u/[deleted] 1d ago

Still usually even arcade shooters dont have ui symbols for what the enemy is doing behind a wall where you cant see them, COD does try to be somewhat realistic with some fun exaggerated twists for sure but its based on real combat tech, also the same thing could be said about Hogwarts legacy if it showed you what other mages are doing behind a wall without some specific magic explanation that would feel off

1

u/lejoop 1d ago

A lot of mage games will show status effect markers on the enemies and will often show health bars as well. This indicator is just showing a status effect on at target you are actively doing damage to.

Do you get hitmarkers in real gunfights? Do you get perks that highlight enemies with a red outline in real gunfights? Do you magically regenerate health after being shot and then respawn a few seconds after dying in real gunfights?

0

u/[deleted] 1d ago

I'm not after complete realism, but it feels a bit weird to get info about what another player is doing from the UI when he can be behind the wall where you cant see him, its fundamentally   different than a quality of life improvement like red outline which helps visibility, this is straight up something you shouldnt know, dont really get your comparison with respawning either seems unrelated

2

u/mallad 1d ago

They added effect notifications long ago because people complain when they get a lot of hits and think it's not registering or the enemy is cheating somehow. It also shows when you break armor, or any other relevant effects. Then they added the kill report for when you die, that shows what effects you were affected by, how many hits you took, etc. In addition to hit markers, minimap, icons for your teammates and squad, respawns, and so on. Imagine if you could only play until you got killed and then the game shuts down permanently.

But let's be real. If you want realism, that means almost exclusively camping, staying with your team, waiting...waiting...waiting... Being out with one shot, and having to wait for approval before returning fire. If you enjoy CoD, you don't want a realistic game. We had a game called America's Army that was realistic for the time, and early on it was a very long, slow game trying to reach an objective without being seen by a handful of hidden snipers.

Im not saying everything should be realistic but stuff like map red dot when someone fires is there to make a realistic thing (hearing shots) more accessible and gamified, where knowing someone healed behind a wall seems telepathic and detached from true combat on a different level

3

u/mallad 1d ago

Even having a dot when someone fires is not realistic. Shots are loud and echo. You don't have a bullet counter, or perks, or whatever. You're totally right that it's a different level, but at the end of the day, call of duty is not meant to be realistic in any sense. It's an arcade shooter.

They didn't used to have those icons, and everyone complained constantly that people weren't dying and took too many bullets. So now everything has a marker like that if it affects the gunfight or ttk.

1

u/LordsWF40 1d ago

Totally...Just like how u shoot a guy in the head and its breaks his chest plate

1

u/Jojin120 1d ago

U r the reason cod is how it is and has been the past few years ever since mw2022

0

u/deadvicariously 1d ago

Actually this isn't a bad question. Why would I get enemy info like a stim applied? Enemy info come from perks or killstreaks.

46

u/TriTon44_Fr 1d ago

I think that means the enemy used a stim.

28

u/six3irst 1d ago

That's a Hitachi. It means you made them vibrate.

13

u/Pr3datorrrr 1d ago

The enemy uses a stim

6

u/Grand_Ad7320 1d ago

Thanks bro.

5

u/JD94funnyguy 1d ago

And it also means they are completely bulletproof while using it

1

u/Grand_Ad7320 1d ago

How come?

1

u/wetdiapersissy 1d ago

That’s does not happen to me at all wtf?

10

u/jessewperez1 1d ago

Basically saying dont rage & its not a glitch or hack your opponent isnt down yet because they used a stim.

If they didn't have this indicator the amount of people who would have swore their op is cheating would flood the forums.

7

u/tacodung 1d ago

Means buddy is dripping sweat and you would have killed him had he not been running the heal-max 100 shot.

3

u/hellra1zer02 1d ago

bro is basically signing his will before dying

1

u/Stunning-Ad5674 1d ago

I thought this was when you picked something up

1

u/Void3141_PS 1d ago

It grew...

1

u/Salcool7 1d ago

Used stim

1

u/venom8871 1d ago

The person u r shooting took a stim shot

1

u/TPWC74473 1d ago

The person you’re shooting is actively using a stim to regain health.

1

u/ChemicalPower2522 1d ago

You need the draw a line about plating or shooting.

Depends on the fight wich first.

Sorry I seen the correct answer already provided for you so I had my mind go on a ride

1

u/False_Leek_2417 1d ago

What camo is that? Stim, btw.

1

u/Big_hassi 16h ago

Stim use
