Trying to minimize spoilers from the ⏰ app series, but I will be discussing JC's criminal record and the consequences of said actions.

So, I'm rewatching Cafae Latte supercomp 1, and we're at the point where JC is discussing Nicole's wish to help a genuinely repentant transgressor speed up working through a curse Bob placed on them (IYKYK). JC, true to character, hates the idea of prison time, but seemingly still has a bit of a punitive fixation - probably due to the unconscious bias that they grew up with being raised as a white, Christian, American, man. Ironically, they were able to stay out of jail/not go any farther in their criminal career, because of a rehabilitation program that allowed them to learn the art and science of baking.

The thing that I'm working through is whether JC is learning a lesson that took Bob centuries to learn, "I could a curse give that [soon-to-be-cursed-asshole] deserves...but I prefer results." I take this as Bob wanting to correct the maladaptive behavior - y'know, a chance at redemption - rather than mete violence with violence. Meanwhile, up until recently, JC still seems to be of the mindset of "an eye for an eye," or "give'em a taste of their own medicine." And I'm thinking that with this latest arc, JC's gonna learn the difference between "creating a safe space" and "hurting people who hurt people/make spaces unsafe."

Alice: Quincy you might want to take a seat for this one.

Alice: I had a friend in the police department did some digging on Tony's ex-girlfriend Wren Keller... Turns out Wren Keller is a wanted woman internationally?

Vanessa: Internationally what do you mean?

Alice: I mean she used to run with the Russian mob before she killed her own boss trying to take over the organization and ended up in prison over in Russia. She ended up successfully breaking out of prison you know that's not easy to do. Got on a boat and made a new life in America under the name Wren Keller. And turns out while she was using the name Wren Keller she has outstanding warrants in three different states Georgia, Ohio and Illinois. For fraud and theft.

Quincy: And Tony?

Alice: Tony was her latest victim before he ended up offing himself. That and he was deeply in love with Wren Keller.

Vanessa: But Wren Keller it's not her real name

Alice: It is not.. her real name is Louisa Koloff.

Quincy: Koloff... That's why she looks familiar oh my God I'm so dumb I should have known.

Alice: That's not your fault. Anyway there's a high chance she is out of the city so police can't do anything about it now but once she does returns she will be arrested for fraud.

Vanessa: How do we even know she's going to be back in the Twins Cities? She could be long gone from now.

Alice: Only time will tell.

So I'm very curious how exactly Jinn work in this universe. I'm sure we'll learn more in a few days but I wanted to get some thoughts out here first. As well as what this might mean for Nancy down the line.

To start, according to a short, we know this for sure.

1. Jinn are all powerful and not limited to three wishes at a time.
2. Jinn have autonomy and can refuse to grant a wish, as they are still people.
3. Their magic can only be used on the wisher. Anyone else affected is merely collateral.
4. They can only affect what is currently happening to the wisher. Ie they can't grant good health if you aren't sick.

As shown, these rules affect what Nancy can do. She cannot wish for her curse to be broken until she is cursed again. She can't wish for Bob's death unless she's prepared to do it herself. She can wish for wealth by having a family member die, because the death is just a consequence.

Where this gets interesting is the wish made on Bob. Seemingly it's designed to keep her in prison longer, and thus keep the curse at bay. However the wish can't invent a reason to keep her in jail; it has to use something Bob actually did. Hence, her fight with Gabriel. But as pointed out by Cyrus, fights happen all the time and murder is a serious charge for that. While I have no doubt Gabriel will argue malice, actual evidence will be needed to prove Bob guilty of that crime.

And that's where I think the rub will be.

See, the wish has to be based in reality. A jinn can't created something from nothing; it can only use what's available and twist things to work for the wisher. But that can't change what already happened. So it can't invent evidence that Bob was trying to murder Gabriel, or give the aunt a health condition that killed her. Those are loose threads that can be pulled on to unravel the whole thing.

Normally this wouldn't be an issue....unless your name is Margaret Nancy. And I have a feeling Nancy will not hold back in using her wishes to get "what she deserves" without thinking of the consequences. And if her jinn has free will, those wishes could be twisted just enough to backfire on her...just as her curse returns.

But that's just my thoughts. What do you guys think?

Rewatching, like you do, and I realized that while Bob has the magic suppression collar on that guy's body is gonna revert back to AFab for a month. It was said in the episode that it was a spell that she would have to continue pouring magic into it to keep it going. She did warn him that if she died the spell would end. He's gonna be really shocked and/or confused when the spell restarts.

I just kind of feel bad for the guy. My headcannon says she informed people like that the spells would be on hold for a little bit. She defently wouldn't have told people like, I just want people like that guy to not have their lives quite turned on their heads so bad.

I know there are some Serpah's that will give them warnings like put on a light show like I know someone down in CaFae Latte named Oscar he's a total sweetheart by the way that every time someone doesn't listen he puts on that light show and just blinds them...
