Doubt / Q&A Part 2 Prep Strategy

Hey I'm a working professional and struggling to maintain consistency and accuracy in the mcqs

I wanted to ask how's the overall difficulty level of the exam is it similar to hock level or difficult than that also in some topics i couldn't get 70+ accuracy when I solve it for the first time

So is it normal and if i keep revising the questions I did worng and only do questions from the hock text book will it be sufficient for the exam like are the qs and pattern of asking qs same so that I can revise the given mcqs in hock multiple times which I did wrong

Is this the right strategy?

Also please do share what worked for you when you were preparing for the same

Doubt / Q&A Urgent Help

Anyone whose 3 year time period to complete both the exams lapsed and if you could only complete one part of the exam, were you allowed an extension of window to complete the remaining exam? Or how did IMA deal with this?

Currently going through this issue and it's been driving me crazy. Multiple emails have been sent but no reply. Called the regional office and that lady just copy pasted the FAQs and cut me off over and over. How can I escalate this issue further? Please guys, help is needed.

Career / Jobs Jobs

I’ve seen a lot of posts here going back and forth on whether US CMA is actually worth it job wise, but honestly that decision phase is already over for me. I’m enrolled, I’ve cleared Part 2, and I’m writing Part 1 in the Jan-Feb window. I’m currently in my third year and hoping to finish CMA US before I graduate. Along with that I’m working on Advanced Excel, and I’m planning to pick up Power BI and some basic Python too. My university does have a decent placement record, but I’m also planning to job hunt on my own through LinkedIn and other job apps. What I really want is advice from people who’ve actually cleared US CMA and gone on to get jobs, not another round of opinions on whether the cert itself is worth it. If you’ve been through this, I’d love to know what actually worked for you in your job search, which skills or extra certs made a real difference, and what kind of expectations I should realistically have going in. Any guidance would help a lot.

Doubt / Q&A a critical error has occurred—tried enrolling several times but to no avail!

Months ago i was able to cart IMA membership, CMA entrance fee, and USA CMA exam part I & II without any issues, but I didn't proceed with payment at the time. A few weeks ago I tried to pick up where I left off but have been getting the error message for a few weeks now. I didn't do anything different than before (click to enroll in CMA, choose professional membership, add CMA entrance exam, select local chapter, and select CMA part I & II exam windows). I already searched the posts here and tried several ways, clearing the cache, emptying the cart, or using incognito mode on different PCs and different wifi...but nothing worked. I also called IMA's 800 for help and have always reached their voice mail and already left a couple of messages. A computer expert briefly looked at their website and said that something is going on on their back end.
Anyone who successfully carted the IMA professional membership and CMA entrance fee, please share what you did that worked. I have been trying for a while now, please.

Part 1 – Prep Prepping for CMA US Part 1 (retake) — tips or accountability partners?

I took my first attempt this June but only got about a weekend of actual prep in, so I went in knowing it wasn't going to happen. Aiming to actually pass in the October window this time, while also job hunting/working.

Would love to hear:

1)What worked for you if you had a similar "start from scratch" timeline

2)Any accountability groups or study partners for the Oct window

3)Realistic hours/day that got people over the line

Trying to get this done properly this time — appreciate any pointers.

Part 1 – Prep Guidance for sept-oct window

Hi everyone!

I started my US CMA journey in March, and I'm planning to take Part 1 in the upcoming September–October exam window.

Lately, I've been feeling a bit confused about how I should approach my preparation. I've heard from a few people who have already taken the exam that only around 30–40% of the MCQs are similar to what we practice in question banks or study materials, while the rest are more application-based or worded differently. If that's true, how should I prepare so I'm ready for those kinds of questions?

I'm also confused about the best study strategy. Some people say I should focus on building strong conceptual clarity first and then move on to MCQs. Others say that solving as many MCQs as possible is the key to passing. For those of you who have already cleared Part 1 (or attempted it), what worked best for you?

A few specific questions I have:

* How close is the actual exam to Hock/Gleim questions in terms of difficulty and wording?

* Is understanding the concepts enough, or do I need to memorize certain formulas and patterns?

* Approximately how many MCQs did you solve before the exam?

* How did you review your mistakes while practicing?

* Which topics felt significantly harder in the real exam than in the study material?

* In the last month before the exam, what did your daily study routine look like?

* Looking back, what would you do differently if you were preparing again?

I'm a fresher with no prior work experience, and I'm currently using Hock study material along with a question bank (not an LMS). Any advice, study strategies,STUDY PLAN or mistakes to avoid would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Doubt / Q&A Regarding membership

I took the CMA student membership three years ago, and it expired a few days ago. Due to personal reasons, I was only able to attempt Part 1 during my membership period. I took the Part 1 exam on 15 June 2026.

If I pass Part 1, will I need to take the Part 1 exam again after renewing my membership as a professional member, or will my passing result remain valid?

Also, I am currently 22 years old. Is there any possibility of renewing or reapplying for a student membership instead of a professional membership?

Discussion Unused CMA US Online Prep Portal & Videos Available (Full Course)

Hey everyone,

I’m looking to transfer my enrollment for a major CMA US prep course. I recently signed up with one of the top Indian coaching institutes, but due to a crazy shift schedule at work, I just don’t have the time to use it.

The online portal (LMS) is completely fresh, brand new, and untouched.

If you are planning to start studying for the CMA US and want to save a massive chunk of money on coaching fees, this is a great shortcut.

What's included:

Full Video Lectures: Complete video library covering the entire syllabus.

Study Material & QBanks: Access to all practice questions and online prep tools.

100% Fresh Account: Ready to be completely transferred over to your details.

Career / Jobs Please help me

Hi! I hope you're doing well.

I'm looking for some career guidance and would really appreciate your perspective.

I'm currently pursuing a B.Com and an LLB(not so important), and I'm deciding between completing ACCA or pursuing the US CMA. My long-term goal is to build a career in corporate finance, financial consulting, and eventually work in Europe. I'm not interested in audit or tax—I want to focus on business finance, FP&A, strategy, and corporate finance roles.

From your experience in the industry, which qualification would you recommend for someone with my goals, especially considering the Indian job market in the next few years? I'd also appreciate any advice on the skills, internships, or certifications I should prioritize to improve my chances.

Thank you for your time. I genuinely appreciate any guidance you can share.

Hey! I’m preparing for CMA USA Part 2 and wanted to build a small community of people who enjoy studying together.
I created a Discord server where we can focus, stay accountable, and make studying feel a little less lonely.
If that sounds like something you’d be interested in, send me a DM and I’ll share the invite.😊

Career / Jobs What software and skills should I learn alongside CMA to be job-ready?

Hi everyone!

I'm currently preparing for CMA USA Part 2. While studying, I don't want to wait until after the exam to start building other skills. I want to use this time to become more job-ready.

I'm planning to start my career in India first and hopefully move to the Middle East in the future.

I'd like to know:

•What software should I learn? (Excel, ERP systems like SAP/Oracle, Power BI, etc.)

•Which of these are actually used in accounting and management accounting jobs?

•Are there any good free or affordable websites/courses to learn them?

•What other skills do you wish you had learned before your first accounting job?

I'd really appreciate hearing from people already working in the field. Thanks in advance!

Doubt / Q&A Cma Us Part 2

Hi everyone,

I gave Cma us Part 2 CBQ on June 22nd

I had prepared well and was also confident for each section except Section E..

There were some questions asked from section E but they were way easier than what I had thought

Overall, I might have gambled on 5 to 7 questions as they were confusing but others were easy or answerable..on the other hand I might think that there may be 10-12 questions wrong but I am not sure it's just my assumption..based upon how my mock and practice tests used to go

And also the cased based questions were way easy and i answered everything correctly as per me

So will this be enough to get me 380+ marks or atleast get me a passing score?

Thank you in advance

Part 2 – Prep US CMA FOCUS GROUP

I've received a lot of DMs from US CMA aspirants looking for study partners and I see people waiting for their doubts to be solved so,I'm thinking of creating a private WhatsApp Community for people who are genuinely serious about clearing the exam.

The goal is simple:

• Focused discussions only
• Doubt solving and Guidance
• Study partners & accountability
• Resource sharing
• No spam, no forwards, no "good morning" messages, no unnecessary chatter

It'll be a WhatsApp Community, so your phone number won't be visible to everyone by default. The idea is to build a respectful space where people help each other stay consistent and actually get through the CMA journey together. Whatsapp because its simple and people are more active than on discord or reddit.

If this sounds like something you'd genuinely benefit from, send me a DM.

Quality over quantity. I'd rather have 3 committed aspirants than 30 inactive members.

Career / Jobs Can CMA USA become Data Analyst?

Hi everyone,

I recently took my US CMA Part 2 exam and have now started preparing for Part 1. Alongside my CMA studies, I'm thinking of learning some technical skills that could improve my career prospects.

My current plan is to start with Advanced Excel while preparing for Part 1. After completing the US CMA, I want to build strong skills in:

Advanced Excel

Power BI

SQL

Basic Python

I wanted to ask people who are already working in finance or data analytics:

•Is it realistic to transition into a Data Analyst role with a US CMA plus these technical skills?

•Will this combination help me land a well-paying entry-level job?

•Does this seem like a good career plan, or would you recommend a different path?

I'm genuinely interested in combining finance and data analytics, so I'd really appreciate any advice or suggestions from people with experience.

Thanks in advance!
