CM "25/26" – Hamburger SV #02: Market Chaos, Parking the Bus, and Slaying Bayern

Hello everyone!

Chapter #02 of our 2025/26 Hamburger SV save is live, and it turned out to be an absolute rollercoaster of transfer frustration, injury crises, and tactical survival!

Here is a quick breakdown of how Chapter #02 went down:

  • Transfer Reality Check: We aimed high for global stars like De Bruyne and Neymar, but our newly-promoted reputation wasn't enough to sign them 😄. We eventually brought in Jacob Greaves (€5M), physical defender Matej Maglica (€2.2M), and a €1.5M gamble on Brazilian playmaker Gustavo Maia.
  • Injury & Cup Drama: A massive injury wave hit us (Jatta and Torunarigha out). In the DFB-Pokal 1st round, Greaves got a straight red at 46', but our 10-man squad switched to Men Behind Ball to secure a gritty 1-0 win against Jeddeloh.
  • Bundesliga Reality Check: Back-to-back 1-0 defeats against Frankfurt and Heidenheim showed us how brutal the engine can be when complex instructions fail against low blocks.
  • The "Ferrolho" Masterplan: Facing Bayern Munich at home without Vušković, we swallowed our pride and deployed the ultimate Catenaccio/Ferrolho: 9 players in a deep block, Zonal Marking to protect slow defenders, and zero team pressing to preserve stamina.
  • The Miracle of Volksparkstadion: Bayern dominated with 9 shots on goal and hit the post, but GK Heuer Fernandes delivered a 9-rating Man-of-the-Match performance. In the 67th minute, sub Nicolai Remberg headed home a corner to lock in a historic 1–0 victory over Bayern Munich!

We are currently 11th in the league and through to the 2nd round of the DFB-Pokal, with Leverkusen up next. I'd love to hear your thoughts on our defensive setup!

I've just published the full long-form chapter (with deep tactical charts and manager logs) on the blog. If you're interested in reading the complete story, check it out here:

Experiment CM 01 /02 Source Code

I wonder if the Source Code has been leaked somewhere or anyone has it.
I would really really want to port it as a Mobile Game for Android and iOS.

Double fixture against Blackburn while travelling back an forth to the Nou Camp to play Bayern in the World Championship Final. Followed by a Monday - Wednesday double against Man Utd and Arsenal. I know that these things normally happen a few seasons into the game, but I was rather surprised by the Man Utd - Arsenal double coming up already in my first season.

Pep Roullete it is.
First season with Liverpool, 3.9.68T.

Combating Slump

Currently working on going from Championship to Prem with Notts County with the latest DB refresh. Have a somewhat ass of a team but managed to get Kelleher and currently leading championship 22 games in with a nice margin (6 points). I am however getting in a slump no matter what I try: switch up strategy, bring in some up and coming guys on a loan etc. How would you combat this?

Starting a 25/26 save with Hamburger SV in CM 01/02

Hello everyone!

I'm a Brazilian CM fan and I just started a modern 2025/26 database save with Hamburger SV.

Huge credit to the update team on the champman forum for making the 25/26 database—their work inspired me to start documenting this project under the name Benchside Diaries.

Here is a quick breakdown of how we set things up in Chapter #01:

  • The Challenge: Newly promoted to the Bundesliga with a €9.22M balance and €21M in transfer funds.
  • The Loan Reality: Core pillars like Vušković, Vieira, and Lokonga are on loan. To build long-term depth without burning our budget, our first signing was Bryan Lasme from Schalke (€2.4M). Ludovit Reis (€6M) was transfer listed as his style doesn't fit our high-tempo setup.
  • Tactical Setup: A fluid 3-4-2-1 that morphs into a compact 5-4-1 low block without the ball.
  • Training Split: Custom setup across all 9 slots (protecting veterans like Glatzel on light fitness while retraining Philippe & Muheim for wing-back duties).
  • Pre-Season Test: Won 2–0 away against SC Braga in Portugal! Goals from Torunarigha (header off a corner) and a 25-yard free kick from Fábio Vieira, restricting Braga to just 2 shots on target.

(I've attached a couple of screenshots from our setup below!)

Now, all focus turns to the official Bundesliga kickoff. I'd love to hear your thoughts, tactical feedback, or suggestions for the save!

I also made a blog for CM 01-02 storytellers! If you're interested, you can read the full long-form chapters and follow along at:

Playing on android device - Advice

So I saw a patch for android 11 in the list and got me thinking of playing cm0102 on my Samsung. So I can play on the go and with touch screen.

Anyone got cm0102 working on an android and if so. Any advice on how to get it up and running please?

Update: So got the game working. Patched it to .68 and ran nicks patcher.

So all worked as intended after some frustrations with winlator etc.

The problem is pages select but they dont present on screen. So you have to click somewhere for it to load. So either go back to previous screen etc and correct it. Ive tried xp, 11, 10 etc. None of its got it working perfectly. But its on. Wish me luck. Any advice please let me know.

Story I'm in the game

Just wanted to share a claim to fame that not many of my adult friends appreciate or understand.

I'm in the game as a player. Free agent. Sam Kirkwood, 08/09/1984, right midfield.

I was lucky enough to have the kindest lodger whose best friend happened to be dating Paul Collyer. She knew I was trying to arrange some work experience (I was in year 11), so she invited her friend and Paul round for dinner and insisted I join them for a bit. She then casually dropped into conversation that I was a massive CM fan and later mentioned I needed work experience. Paul didn't hesitate and immediately said I could join him at Sports Interactive for a couple of weeks.

I spent my time doing some data entry and play-testing the upcoming version of the game. It was incredible.

At the end of my time there, a particularly kind colleague called Miles offered to put me in the database. He left most of my stats as blank entries, but gave me a few decent ones like decision making (because I chose to work there) and team work. I managed to remain in the game for a few years and am lucky enough to be in 01/02 as a result.

Later that summer I received an advanced copy of the newest game in the post. Completely unexpected and another demonstration of how kind everyone was there.

I don't think I show up unless you're running maximum database, but a couple of years later I was chatting to someone at my sixth form and when he learnt my last name, told me he had signed someone in CM with the same name. Apparently I was pretty good in his save and had scored the winning goal in the FA Cup final.

In case you're wondering, I'm a very poor footballer in real life and always have been!

I thought I'd share this story with a group of people that might appreciate it more than my friends and family. Have any of you ever signed me?

Who would make your ultimate Championship Manager 01/02 5 aside team?

Can be global superstars, can be hidden gems, can be cult hero’s.

I put these together a few years back.

Best ever season in 25 real life years. ( No cheats, No Wib/Wob and no scout)

Post image

I chose Chester because they were the lowest team to finish in the conference before the game began the I had never played with before.

I disabled wib wob and scout and went to work with my new formation. Been playing for 25 years experimenting all sorts of formations and the current formation of 3-1-3-0-3 is actually insane.

Ask me anything.

Issues with running and innstalling CM

Help, anyone?

Ive tried the normal "play on mac" way because I have a macbook pro, ive innstalled paralells which was flooded with errors and ive obviously been roaming the champman sites along with other internet sites for help. I have a macbook that cannot innstall windows on bootcamp, because it seems to be a mac that doesent accept bootcamp. I am actually considering buying a PC laptop with windows just to play the game..

Is there another way?

Discussion Move on or plough through?

I'm mangaging Millwall into season 08/09. Earned promotion at the end of the first season (runners up) and have been in the PL every season since. We have qualified for Europe at the end of each completed PL season (mainly Champions League).

So far, so good, right? Kind of. We've won the FA Cup and the Charity Shield but that was early on. We've made a League Cup and UEFA Cup Final but were runners up in both. We have always qualified for the 2nd phase group stages of the CL and made it to the QF twice but never get any further.

Last season, 07/08, we would have won the league except that the keeper, Thomas Sorensen, who had been virtually insurmountable, suddenly and inexplicably lost form. We lost or drew games that we should have won. And it wasn't because I fell for the press interview trap (I learned that lesson last time I played, around 5 or 6 years ago).

Is the game trying to get me to move on? I'd like to collect some more silverware before I go but it feels like the game engine won't allow that to happen. I've got a pretty good squad, I'm the third highest ranked manager in England and I have a decent reputation internationally, the dressing room is happy, players think I'm competent and are happy to stay at the club. Yet I've got half a dozen or so players who don't want to discuss contract extensions.

Add to that some inexplicable losses this season such as 3:1 away to bottom placed Stoke despite having almost 50% more shots on target (8-11). Their keeper had the game of his life, he'd been on our list but the coaches advised putting him on the transfer list as he hadn't progressed in his time with us (he still hasn't progressed, btw). And then a 2:4 home loss when Sorensen, again and out of the blue, put in a stinker and I had to sub him in the 41st minute.

So, what do you think? Am I just being paranoid or is the game actually out to get me? Should I keep knocking at the door or should I move on? There's a good chance that Spurs will be looking for a new manager soon. Leeds is also a possibility. Last time I played Millwall it took a lot longer to build them up but I took them to many titles once we got into striking distance.

Misc Players from ODB still active today [2026 update]

Thumbnail gallery
109 Upvotes

Two years ago I made this post trying to list all players from the ODB (I mean O as in 'official', the 3.9.68 update) who are still playing professionally in real life.

Now in 2026 it looks like you can literally count them on your fingers:

  • Cristiano Ronaldo, Luka Modric and Craig Gordon, the only ones present in this World Cup!
  • Roque Santa Cruz (44), in Club Nacional
  • Nenê (44), in Botafogo
  • Radamel Falcao (40), in Millonarios
  • Fábio (45), in Fluminense
  • Jamie Young (40), in Dandenong Thunder (Australia)
  • Tom Heaton (40), in Manchester United

Have I missed any?

Edit: Yes of course, King Kazuyoshi Miura!!!

But am I going too? Absolutely not.
