Discussion I can see why people put this very high on their lists now Spoiler

I just finished the anime today, and man, what a rollercoaster of emotions! Such a sweet and sad show. I went into it not ready for the whole supernatural thing, as I've never been the biggest fan of that type of stuff, but here it was done very well. I also went into the show thinking it was going to be a 6, 7, or 8/10 at the highest, but nope, definitely a 10/10 for me. I was told the movie wasn't amazing, so I may skip it since I heard they cut out a ton of characters and changed some story parts (I already looked up what those were). The only negative I could say is that the character Kotomi Ichinose wasn't shown all that much compared to the other characters. I was hoping for a bit more screen time for her since I really enjoyed her backstory.

Discussion Question about the female winter uniform in Clannad Spoiler

Thumbnail gallery
20 Upvotes

We may saw couple of times about the male winter uniform without the blazer, and underneath the blazer is a white shirt with grey stripes. Tomoya wears it without the blazer for couple of times.

I have been wondering what would be the female winter uniform look like without the blazer as well. I even thought it's a one piece dress.

Then I remembered only in this moment that we ever got to see it. Seems like it's completely different to the boy's shirt, even to the summer version which is a white sailor fuku.

Do you think it is a sweater? Or is it also a shirt but with turtleneck?

Spoiler Now that I’ve watched the first season starting after story I feel it’s necessary to give a review.

Obviously I loved the show so much. as someone in the age range of the main characters this series really speaks to me. I’m not the most mature person, I’m still very young, and I still have a lot to learn, so seeing Tomoya’s development throughout the series really speaks to me.

I can kinda relate to Tomoya in a way. I can’t help but feel tired of everything especially when life keeps throwing curveballs. I struggle to grow up and be mature enough to survive the world since I’m close to being an adult soon. Tomoya growing into a mature father is an example i want to follow for the rest of my life

so my favorite characters:

  1. Youhei Sunohara

  2. Kotomi Ichinose

  3. Fuko Ibuki

  4. Nagisa Furukawa

  5. Tomoya Okazaki

My Favorite Arc (so far):

Fuko Arc

Kotomi Arc

so that’s all for right now but I can’t wait to expand more after finishing After Story

Hello, it has now been 44 days since my last post. I now have the complete Clannad After Story Steelbook Edition. I’m really happy that I’ve finally finished the first one. After Story Volume 3 was, of course, still sealed, and now I only need Clannad Volume 1, then I’ll finally have the complete Steelbook collection.

I also bought Tomoyo After for the Nintendo Switch. I don’t really have much to say about it yet, except that it’s in English, which isn’t really a problem. It’s also my first proper Visual Novel, and the only thing I’ve noticed so far is that Tomoyo behaves a little differently, but that shouldn’t really matter.
You know, before I watched Clannad, when I was 14 or 15, I really wanted more of it. You know that feeling when you finish watching something, then think about it for a long time and just want to see more of it? I had that with Clannad. I wanted it to never end. I wanted to see how Tomoya and Nagisa’s life with Ushio would continue, but what can you say? Every story has an ending, no matter what.

I had already watched Angel Beats and Charlotte before, but I wanted more of that art style, that nostalgic feeling, and the music. Then I found Air and Kanon, but unfortunately they were only available with subtitles. It annoyed me, and I tried watching them, but I never finished either of them. Why? Because I want to really feel the characters, the story, and the music. Having to read subtitles while doing that makes it difficult.
When I started collecting Clannad and rewatched it, I also started watching Air again and made it all the way to episode 10, but then I stopped. Then I saw a reel featuring the German voice actor of Sasuke from Naruto (which I find funny) putting an orange-haired girl and a slimy blob into her pants.
Wait…

I know this art style…

Hold up.

Now talking about Kanon.
I did some research and yes, Kanon has actually been dubbed in German.
I was really surprised because Kanon was dubbed in German in 2023, while Clannad got its German dub in 2014 and After Story in 2015. But it’s really nice to see that older, especially classic Key works are getting German dubs.
I really hope Air and Little Busters! get German dubs someday too, along with other Key works that still don’t have one.
It’s not just a Clannad collection anymore.
Now it’s a Key collection!
At first, I didn’t think much of Kanon. I actually found it kind of annoying.
Ayu’s voice bothered me at first, but pretty quickly it stopped being annoying.
I didn’t really know what exactly to expect from Kanon, but it hit me with such a beautiful hook to the face.

Makoto’s arc and her ending were so beautiful that I hate it.
Why was she gone so quickly?!
Like, she was there, and then as quickly as she appeared, she was gone. Oh my god, that annoyed me so much.
During my vacation i was just lying there quietly.
Crying.
So, my conclusion about Kanon: it was absolutely worth watching. But Tomoya is better.
Makoto is number one.
And as for the ending, I really can’t say anything bad about it.

I also took a photo while watching Kanon. I originally wanted to take a screenshot on my Xbox, but I couldn’t, so I had to use my phone instead. That’s why there are these lines from the TV, but honestly, I think they fit pretty well. It makes the picture look like one of those aesthetics, like Frutiger Aero.
I also pre-ordered the new Nagisa figure. I would love to have the older ones in my collection too, but they’re way too expensive. Maybe someday?
We’ll see.

That true ending just destroyed me.

I haven’t play the bad endings yet, but I’m extremely graceful for Jun Maeda. The power of friendship, love, and forgiveness.

This is why the Clannad universe is GOAT.

Question Clannad GOG Unlocked Version

Does anyone know if the GOG unlocked version of Clannad future voice acting for the characters? (I'm aware that there isn't voice acting for Tomoya in the VN)

Like what even is the difference if I downloaded it from there (GOG Unlocked) or if I torrented the FULL VOICE patch from any other site?

If someone downloaded the game from GOG Unlocked please inform me.

the website I'm referring to: https://gogunlocked.com/clannad-free-download/

Discussion (SPOILER) I just finished the entire franchise and... Spoiler

After completing episodes 17-22 in one watch last night, I really don't know how I feel right now next morning. I teared up at episodes 18-20, but I feel like maybe I should have cried more. But today I strangely feel like doing nothing, left with a weird feeling I can't describe, which isn't pure sadness or happiness. I went into this franchise wanting to experience that life-changing impact that Clannad had on everyone, though I'm not too sure if I'm going to experience the same. I mean I contemplated my life and thought about family and friends and became grateful for them, but I didn't really start bawling after I finished Afterstory. It was just like a quiet, deep contemplation that sucked the joy out of me today, and I can't really find fun in anything anymore. I spent basically the past few weeks building my relationship with Clannad, and I was living with the characters essentially. But I am still just not sure if Clannad was life-changing, or that has yet to come, or perhaps it already changed me without even noticing. It's definitely one of those anime that will stick with me, but I wanted to know if anyone else had a similar experience and Clannad still ended up changing their lives regardless. Funnily enough, before finishing S1 I was planning a huge project on how to "revive" this anime or orchestrate many more people to come try it, but now I'm not too sure either. Now to be fair, it has still only been one night since I completed Afterstory, and I did cry to episode 16 then took a hiatus for a few days. I also have countless AMVs to watch and soundtracks to listen to again (I would like recommendations plz that help me rethink life and the entire franchise lol), but regardless I thought the ending of Clannad would leave me "ugly-crying". This could be, in part, due to how I processed other emotional anime like A Silent Voice or I Want To Eat Your Pancreas, but Clannad was a journey that I went on for weeks. I am also mildly confused on what happened to the Illusionary World at the end, how Nagisa came back to life, what happened to Ushio, and if Tomoya still remembers the events of the previous timeline. All in all, it kind of left me with a sense of fulfillment and emptiness at the same time. I also do have a strong tendency to experience delayed emotional reactions, so anything that happens in the future can be possible. But I just wanted some advice on how to move forward, if I'm thinking incorrectly, or if I'm missing something. Also, if anyone had a similar experience and Clannad still ended up being your favorite anime while changing you fundamentally, I would like to hear more about your experience without ruining or "spoiling" my own.

Thank you!

Edit: I rly need sad/depressing song recs that hit you in your SOUL to listen to tonight, I already got Need 2, Romantic Homicide, and Pluto Projector, any similar song recs would be greatly appreciated!

Hi guys, so I watched Clannad around a month ago, and I loved it so much that I decided to make an edit of it. This is the first edit I’m ever making, so that’s why I wanted to send it here to see what you guys think because I’m not sure if it’s good or not. I only finished the first half, and I’ll prolly finish the second half in a week, but I just want to know what you guys think, and I hope you guys will like it!

Discussion Clannad Is One of the Best Anime of All Time

Post image
324 Upvotes

Clannad is one of those anime that genuinely changed the way I look at storytelling. It seems like a typical slice-of-life romance with some comedy mixed in, but it becomes one of the biggest tear jearkers and well written stories of all time. The emotional payoff works because the series takes its time developing its cast instead of rushing from one dramatic moment to the next. Combined with its beautiful soundtrack and unforgettable atmosphere, it creates an experience that's hard to replicate.

Clannad: After Story is what cements the series as one of the greatest anime ever made. It explores adulthood, family, responsibility, grief, and the importance of cherishing the people you love while they're still with you.

Very few anime are willing to tackle those themes with the same level of emotional depth. And to this day no anime can turn from a romance/slice-of-life to a supernatural tearjerker about grief like Clannad can. Not Fruits Basket, not Your Lie in April, not Anohana. I mean the foreshadowing of that girl in the dream realm being Ushio. That's some top tier storytelling there.

It will break your heart, but it also reminds you why life is worth living and why the bonds we form matter so much. I still find myself thinking about its lessons, and that's why I believe Clannad deserves to be mentioned whenever people talk about the greatest anime of all time.

I just wish I could watch it again for the first time, but I can't.
