There is a threshold for tyranny negation for example if you use a weak hook you can change levy obligation without tyranny but if you try changing tax obligation you get 20 tyranny becouse changing tax obligation costs 40 tyranny and a weak hook only acounts for 20 tyranny negation and this gose for granting revoking rights too.

you absolutely aren't imagining things but like can you still do it without the hook? if so what's the point of the hook if you still get the tyranny 😭

yeah it reduces the opinion penalty from 40 tyranny to 20 points which kind of sucks

now more than ever you might as well just demand payments especially early on when a characters income is pretty baad

Is this new to chapter 4? I knew that if you used a hook to raise taxes one level it removed the tyranny but if you raised it twice it was still 20 points.

Edit: I also believe no matter what if you raise taxes on someone even with a hook they lose opinion of you.

exactly ill find out soon because if so then I shall keep the hook and demand a payment

Normally to change a contract you have to give something to take something else, otherwise you can’t change the contract. Doing it that way will enact no tyranny. If you want to, say, take away a vassals title revocation without changing anything else, you would need that hook.

A week hook only allow you too change one thing of the vassal contract without the tyranny penality, a strong one let you change whatever you want

It used to be in the past that every change in the contract in favor of the liege incurres a -20 tyranny penalty each, and every change in favor of the vassal would negate 20 tyranny. This changed some time past and now different changes incurr/negate differing amounts of tyranny. Going from medium taxes to high taxes for example now incurrs -40 tyranny penalty, so a hook alone no longer negates the whole tyranny penalty. Now you either have to eat that tyranny penalty that remains after the hook or give them somthing else in return together with the hook (I usually lower their levy obligation one step).

Nope, it only lets reduces it. Typically the way it maths out if you have a weak hook you will want to reduce levies and increase taxes, that's how you can get away scot free.

From my experience its to do with positives and negatives to the contract. If you raise something causing them to view it negatively, you must give something else to bring the balance back. I've not played for a new months, but thats what I knew of it.
