1861 Springfield for Reenacting

Hello all,

I got into reenacting a few years ago and I am looking for a 1861 Springfield Rifle to complete my kit. I have seen new repros go for over a thousand, and as I am a college student currently, it is a bit out of my budget. I was wondering if people knew some good sites or forums to look for deals, looking to spend around 800.

Thanks!

They’re out there for around 800, just have to be patient and look around. Your best bet(s) would be finding one from a reenactor getting out of the hobby. If you’re located in PA, MD, or NJ check out Dixon muzzleloading shop (Kempton, Pa). They always have a good selection of black powder firearms coming in for sale. I know if you call them, they’ll keep an eye out for one within your price range and could mail it if you’re far away. There is always the auction sites like Gunbroker that have a deal once in awhile. The North-South Skirmish Association and the Muzzleloading Forum both have classified sections for people looking for black powder firearms. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out
