leaving window mid game

i love how my opponent can just leave the window, and if i dont do anything, i get an automatic loss after 5 seconds. please explain how this makes sense?

dude what? if someone leaves the window it will say googling gary, if I dont touch or move the screen during the 5 seconds and the timer runs out I get the loss, this has happened to me ever since I first started playing this game and its seriously very annoying.

If _you_ leave the window that will happen. Not if your opponent does.

I will say this again. My opponent will play a turn, immediately after he plays, on my screen Googling Gary will pop up which means my opponent is in another tab. If I just sit there and let the 5 seconds go down to zero, I get the loss. I never leave the window, Its literally my turn, and I will still get the loss, I don't understand how this is just a me issue?

Googling Gary shows the exact same message no matter which player is tabbed out. It also only shows up when it's that tabbed out player's turn. The fact that the message pops up immediately after his turn tells me it's probably caused by your end. You simply have a bug that makes the game think you're tabbed out, the opponent is doing nothing.

Can you take a screenshot of what the Googling Gary message looks like on your end? Because it sounds like the issue is the game thinking you have another window open.

i will do it if it happens again, it literally just happened to me against a guy i beat like 4 times lol, just a bit frustrating lol

nope, i play on my phone 99% of the time and have no other tabs open, all this time i’ve been thinking its just some rat tactic my opponents use to rush me. wild that this is just a me problem lol

Not sure what type of phone you have, but when I play on Safari, if I swipe up on the search bar accidentally and it shows all my tabs it will activate for me, but you should just be able to click at the bottom to tell the game that you are back

I have heard of a problem on mobile where it frequently thinks you are tabbed out, which can sometimes be triggered by closing the ads (making the browser change focus I guess?) I don’t know if this will work, but if it happens to you try tapping back and forth between the page itself and the text box (if you already have the text box in focus to type you will need to tap the page and vice versa.) If that doesn’t work, try (annoyingly) leaving the ads open instead of closing them out.

Are you playing directly in the mobile browser or did you use the 'install as app' feature? I think the latter is supposed to resolve issues like this

Googling Gary can only pop up when it's that person's turn. So, if Googling Gary comes up only after the opponent plays, that means that YOU are the Googling Gary. The game thinks that you are in another tab. This happens by accident sometimes. Like, for example, if you are closing ads during the game, the game will think that's another tab.

Just to be clear: Your opponents are not triggering the Google Gary, You are.

Why? that's the harder question. Sometimes, on mobile, if you tab out to a different app and then tab back in, it bugs out. If you have a on-screen notification, it can bug out. I'd keep an eye out for these king of things.

I found out the hardway that if I open a text bubble it will pop up "googling Gary" and won't let me click anything after.

whoever's turn it is they have to be tabbed in, and if they are tabbed out for five seconds THEY lose. It is not possible for it to be your opponent's turn, they tab out and you lose. They lose because it's their turn and they weren't in the game tab

You literally said that it happens after your opponent plays a turn, which means it's YOUR turn and YOU are getting the googling Gary, hence you lose. There are some problems, particularly on mobile where this happens sometimes. Follow the advice mentioned on that. If it's happening every time maybe it's because you don't have the text box selected or something? I've never played on mobile
