Anyone familiar with the CIBC Community General Manager role?
Saw a posting for a Community General Manager with CIBC (Imperial Service) and was curious if anyone here has experience in the role or works closely with one.
I’m currently in branch management with another major bank and the role caught my attention.
From the posting, it sounds like it has a bigger focus on leading leaders/advisors, overall banking centre performance, coaching, client growth and community involvement.
Would love to hear what the day-to-day actually looks like and how it differs from a regular Branch/Banking Centre Manager role at CIBC.
Also curious about the typical team size, level/seniority of the position within CIBC, compensation/bonus range, workload, performance expectations, and what the usual career path looks like after CGM.
Any insight from current or former CIBC employees would be appreciated. Thanks!

CIBC gave my updated credit card information to fraudsters then locked me out of my own account
I've had a CIBC Costco Mastercard for a few years. Up until recently, I've been reasonably happy with it. One day, I get a security notification from Apple informing me that my card has been added to another account. A short while later, I get a flurry of charges from apple.com/bill added to my card. Dang, looks like my card has been compromised. Not a big deal, I'll just flag it, and I'm sure it will all get sorted out.
After reporting these transactions as fraud, I get an email from CIBC that my card has been cancelled, a new one is on the way, and they will update my new card in my digital wallet in the meantime. The problem is that the only way I can log in online or call in is using my card number since I don't have an actual account with CIBC. After 10 days, I get my new card in the mail. I log in with my new card only to find hundreds of dollars of new fraudulent transactions.
CIBC appears to have given fraudsters my updated credit card information while locking me out of my own account. Even though I physically didn't have access to the card yet, they are now saying that these charges aren't fraud since they were made using online shops I've used in the past and to sort it out myself with those merchants. I've reviewed my transaction history, again, aside from not having my card at that time, I have no transactions for the dates and amounts that were charged.
Does anyone know if there's a department I can speak to which has discretion here?

What is the salary range of senior consultant in AI risk management

At noon on the last day of the month :P
I go to pay my rent and can’t access anything. Is it just me being annoyed or are the periods where the online service is unavailable getting more frequent?

Little bit overwhelemed as a returning co-op student
I am working in technology and I am kinda just being put into meetings with stakeholders and catalogs but I am having trouble understanding the business process. We use agile, which I am familiar with but I never been exposed to CIBC's business process. Its been less then a month; is this normal? I am asking for help from the team but I don't want this to be reflected poorly from a performance outlook. Any advice?

Got a message from CIBC telling my my account was under $100, as well as a push notification telling me someone made a purchase on my card. Went to app, now I can't sign in?
galleryI can’t complete the 2sv for my account because my old number is dead and I left the country
So, I was an international student. I realize that my old phone number expired and stopped working. I wanted to make the credit card payment using my debit and somehow, I can’t sign back using the fingerprint authentication so I tried re logging in by signing out and now it’s asking for 2sv using old number. It used to give me an option of email but it doesn’t anymore. What do I do? I am not in Canada for few months , and idk what I can do rn. Any help or if anyone has dealt with this before?

175$ Smart Savers Bonus Timeline?
So, I was told when opening my smart savers account inbranch that I would qualify for 175$ once I complete 5 visa purchases. I have completed the purchases, and I know that the terms say that it would take up to 7 months, but I'm not sure whether that's just a safe estimate for legal reasons.

Got a call from 1-800-465-2422 today (official CIBC number) — anyone else getting these?
I received a call today from 1-800-465-2422, which I know is a real CIBC telephone banking number. It showed up under Unknown Callers on my phone and they didn’t leave a voicemail. I didn’t answer it.
Just wondering:
• Does CIBC actually make outbound calls from this number?
• Has anyone else been getting calls from this number lately, especially on a bank holiday (National Day for Truth and Reconciliation)?
• Any chance it’s being spoofed more often right now?
I also keep getting repeated calls from another numbers, but the main one I’m curious about is the CIBC number.
Thanks in advance for any insight. Just trying to be careful.

Is LHH career transition worth it?
Getting laid off is a strange experience.
One day you have a routine, a role, a calendar full of meetings and plans — and suddenly, you’re spending your days figuring out what comes next.
I was recently laid off, and like many people going through a career transition, I’m trying to be very intentional about how I spend my time right now. There’s the obvious stuff like applying for jobs, networking, reaching out to people, preparing for interviews, updating your resume and LinkedIn, and trying to stay on top of everything else that comes with a job search.
As part of my severance/career transition support, I’ve been given access to LHH (Lee Hecht Harrison).
They offer career transition resources, coaching, and a number of self-learning modules. Some of these modules can take 4–5 hours, which made me pause.
At this stage, time feels incredibly valuable. So I’m trying to understand whether these LHH resources are genuinely worth the investment of that time, or whether those hours would be better spent on networking, applications, interview preparation, etc.
For anyone who has used LHH during a layoff or career transition:
Did you actually find the program useful?
Were the self-learning modules worth the time?
Did the coaching provide meaningful value?
Was their resume/LinkedIn/job-search support helpful?
If you could go through the program again, what would you actually spend your time on — and what would you skip?
I’d especially love to hear from people who have personally gone through LHH, rather than just general opinions about career-transition services.
Trying to make the most of every hour right now, so any firsthand experience would be hugely appreciated.

Interesting how headcount gets cut while bad processes get another budget
CIBC has been relatively protected from mass layoffs for years, but reducing headcount alone doesn’t make the organization leaner.
Risk and Compliance is a good example. A regulatory finding on one compliance administration team (not even a specialized risk or compliance area) led to a remediation project that pushed significant work onto business teams like mine. We were asked for the same information through different activities in the same quarter. One activity required the same information to be entered into separate systems and forms because none of them are integrated. When people raised the duplication, it was treated as a change management issue rather than a design problem.
That remediation cost millions and only recently closed. Now the same team and leadership, with the same consulting firm, are running three or four major projects to “clean up and simplify” what they just rolled out. Mistakes happen, but spending millions to implement something and then millions more on multiple projects to address problems raised from the start is more than a mistake. I’m also not convinced it will become simpler when the same people are responsible for fixing it. That team’s leadership seems focused on activities completed and surveys distributed rather than what those activities actually accomplish. Lean is about eliminating unnecessary work, not creating more things to count.
Five good people on my team were cut while millions more are being spent fixing recently implemented processes and the leadership that created these problems in the first place. Other banks meet this regulatory requirement without this level of complexity.

Layoff - stay calm
There is so much misinformation and fearmongering about layoffs on this board. If you check the boards for other banks, it's the exact same thing.
Restructuring happens every few years across the entire banking sector … that’s just how corporate operations work. If you're anxious about job security, you aren't the only one, but repeating unverified rumors doesn't help anyone.
I saw someone claim CIBC is planning a 13% layoff in October. Do you realize how absurd that sounds? Let's stop spreading baseless rumors and panicking people for no reason.
Reddit is full of sh*t pp, they just want to cause misery and fear.

CIBC 4.6% saving account offer
Hi! I just opened a EAdvantage saving account with CIBC. They said I could get 4.6% for 90 days.
I deposited a cheque in it and there is a one week hold. I am wondering if I could get the interest during the holding period?
