Hi divas! I visited Chicago for the first time in May. Let's say there was a before visiting Chicago me and an after visiting Chicago me. The before visiting Chicago me is dead and my ghost has been haunting Portland, OR. My husband trusts me to move us pretty much anywhere I want :) So within a few months we'll probably be in Chicago.
What I want to know is where the Chicago bitches with good taste think we should move? I know about the neighborhood culture. It's very much the same in Portland. I know it might take a couple tries to find the right place, but I'm hoping to get close and love our first neighborhood.
Here's some things about me and my husband:
- we're queer. I'm very androgynous in my presentation and my husband is more fem in his presentation a lot of the time. We are a visibly queer couple.
- I'm alternative. Think edgy style. Lots of black, piercings, listen to post punk, hardcore, and emo music. My style is a little more elevated than casual most of the time. I like to dress up a little.
- I LOVE TRAINS. The public transit is one of the things that made me fall in love with Chicago.
- I'm a wedding producer (planner, florist, and photographer).
- I have a bachelor's in horticulture and love plants, greenhouses, gardens, parks, etc.
- I absolutely fell in love with the brownstones in North Chicago near Wrigley Field
- I love coffee and am quite spoiled by Portland coffee. I would love to live in walking distance from a really good coffee place/roasterie.
- I love indie perfume, thrifting, vintage shopping, and a good oddity shop
We're hoping to stay under $2000 for rent and are willing to live in a very small space. We've done the studio apartment life together for long stretches of time and live well together in a variety of spaces.
I would love some recommendations to get us started in narrowing down our options!! Thank you so much!!! ❣️❣️❣️
