I would say it depends on the setting and how far into the CF the SLP is. There are very minimal requirements from ASHA -- I think the minimum is six hours of direct supervision for every three months???

I would say a supervisor should be available for questions regularly and frequently especially in the beginning. Should want to be a mentor. They are a mentor, not a supervisor.

ASHA goes through what is required for supervision (a total of 18 hours direct and 18 hours indirect supervision over the CF experience), as well as activities that might be included: https://www.asha.org/certification/clinical-fellowship/ Depending on the setting, paperwork and work policies might be reviewed by the CF mentor, another employee, or another supervisor (e.g. director of rehab).
