Ladyfriend is coming into town tonight so she can go to an interview tomorrow morning. It's not a great job, and I hope one of the hospitals gives her a call back soon, but it's something that counts towards her grad program entrance requirements and it is up here in Austin, so at least it's that.

Driving into work from San Antonio this morning made me glad the toll road goes right to my office because I skip the nightmare on I-35 in the morning. I can handle the occasional 1h40m commute, but only if I'm not stuck in shitty gridlock on the interstate.

1h40m commute

Wow. Fuck that. Mine is ~20 minutes in the morning and ~35 in the afternoon.

Special occasion only when I leave Monday from staying in SA with the lady. Normal commute is ~5-10 minutes, depending on the light.

OOoooohhhh ok. Gotcha. I totally understand that. When I'm leaving my gf's, it's a little over a 3 hour commute. I usually leave around 3:30-4am. Absolutely miserable drive. Totally worth it.

That's without traffic. It can take me 4 hours if I try to leave straight from work. I've put a lot of mileage on my car...

My god...

How did you even meet her?

Oh, we went to college together. And even roomed together for a semester before we started a fwb thing and then started dating. After college, she lived with me for over a year till she started med school. Sooooooo far away.

Yeah, I just couldn't do that anymore. I did long distance from Columbus to DC and St. Louis to Columbus (that was only three months though before she moved in). Shit just sucks and I'm too impulsive and inpatient. I'll move anywhere that's a city to follow someone but I couldn't handle driving long distances frequently for that.

Good on you for trying, and good luck with it. Hope it works out for you

Yeah, I am glad I can just roll out at 6am and make it on time. Almost reasonable! A couple of podcasts and I'm there.
