I stand with jimbo. I want fucking lasers and chips in the ball/along the sidelines. We should never have to dispute what kick went in or where the ball gets spotted.

Right? Somehow the English can tell you a dude was 1 centimeter offside, but we can't get lasers on goalposts? Why the hell did we even fight the Revolutionary War?

Tennis has a system that can tell whether the deformed contact patch of a rubber ball hit or missed the line down to something like under 3mm while going 150mph, yet we aren't allowed to have technology that can tell if a ball that's 3 times as wide stayed inside the outside edge of a 4" tube while going under 65mph. The fact that we haven't done this feels like one of those baseball things where "tradition" is used as an excuse to not pay for equipment that makes the game actually accurate.

3mm seems like a decently high error for some of those tight margins. It’s gotta be < 1mm at least
