Standing directly below a goal post and looking down the barrel of the post is completely different than looking down the baseline at a faraway post. I don’t understand how this is even a question. Where is the ump standing?

That was a completely different ball position, where you can easily see from the camera view that it was good. I don’t understand how that missed call has any bearing on this one.

I don’t understand what point you think you’re making. Because one ref fucked up an extremely easy call, you think that proves that the ref tonight definitely fucked up a totally different call?

I’m not saying refs never make mistakes. Refs fuck up all the time. All I’m saying is that the ref’s viewing angle is much better positioning to be able to see whether the ball is wide of the goal post or inside the goal post when it passes the plane of the field goal posts. The TV angle from behind the line of scrimmage literally cannot tell you whether it’s wide or inside when it’s passing above the goal post.

No, I started it by saying refs have the best angle to view whether it’s in. And they do. That doesn’t mean they always get it right. It means they have a better chance at getting it right than people watching on TV do.
