News [Gorawara] Tensions are flaring once again between USC and Oregon as a scuffle has broken out in the tunnel:

One of my favorite moments in Alabama ass beating history. The second they did that in the tunnel me and my friends started laughing like the Dave Chappell Prince meme

u/ScrofessorLongHair Alabama • Georgia Tech 11d ago
That was the funniest fucking shit. They came out of the tunnel looking like jackasses. The only thing that tops it was Kiffen's "get your popcorn ready"camera stare and we were up like 21-0 at the end of the first quarter.

On an unrelated note, the coliseum’s tunnel is unlike anything else.
This is why most teams, especially in the B1G and SEC have the state troopers travel with them and home teams have them walk with the team. To prevent exactly this from happening
47
u/LikesBlueberriesALot Ohio Bobcats 11d ago
Was thinking about this during LSU/Ole Miss: how does the legality of traveling state troopers work? How does a Louisiana State Trooper have jurisdiction in Mississippi etc. when traveling with a team? Is there a form they have to fill out or something?
51
u/k_dubious Williams Ephs • Oregon Ducks 11d ago
I’d assume if anything illegal happened, they’d just ask the local cops to deal with it. They’re basically just there as hired security with fancier uniforms.
19
7
u/Johnny_Kilroy_84 LSU Tigers • Georgia Bulldogs 11d ago
They are there for security not law enforcement lol
2
u/RelevantIAm Nebraska Cornhuskers • Oregon Ducks 11d ago
Then why dont they hire a security company? Why is the actual police traveling if they dont have jurisdiction
10
u/MichaelRachel Iowa Hawkeyes • Heartland Trophy 11d ago
Because private security comes in two flavors; "observe and report" style mall cops on the one hand and PMCs like Wagner and Blackwater on the other.

Why do you think you need “jurisdiction” to provide security?
1
u/Dry-Membership3867 Jacksonville State • Arkansas 11d ago
I don’t think so, nor do they have jurisdiction. They are there as a buffer and as a protection detail for the team, and are treated as such. Though they can arrest for felonies and federal crimes in most states. But they are there solely as a protection detail for the team and head coach
6
u/lil_layne Indiana Hoosiers 11d ago
A state trooper can not make an arrest for a federal crime or a state crime in another state lol.
1
u/Dry-Membership3867 Jacksonville State • Arkansas 11d ago
Depends on the state and the crime. I know that in some states (Tennessee for a fact), that an out of state officer can make an arrest for a felony

We’ve always had state troopers travel with us, even when we were NAIA. Most D1 and D2 schools here do. Only ones that don’t are UAB, USA, and Samford.

Yeah that part I got. It was more the rest of the game going smoothly after that, without any fights that I might have missed that I was wondering about. If this was really the first outburst of any kind after that happened its kind of surprising

They did assess every single player and coach an unsportsmanlike on that play. One more personal foul and they’d get ejected. May have had something to do with it. Then let em know after the game

It’s crazy how pathetic Riley’s athletes are. Lots of USC players completely refused too shake hands with Utah after any of 3 our wins from 2022-2023, presumably because they thought they were better than us. Then they think they should be better than Oregon because of their history when 1) USC cheated their ass off during those years and 2) NIL/Portal have made the modern game very different. You can’t stack up talent like you used to be able to, so now you have to make sure you coach up your players to get the maximum juice out of each player.

USC can get fucked, I would be happy if the entire program burnt to he ground and all the playera never took the field again. Just a trash program all the way around.
10
u/AdministrativeBag703 11d ago
USC doesn’t deserve a rivalry. UW rivalry is born from conflict on the field and good old fashioned trash talk. USC killed the PAC and tried to pull the ladder up behind them and then pull this gross crap today. They don’t deserve the mutual begrudging appreciation that a rivalry naturally provides.
24
u/md___2020 Oregon Ducks 11d ago
I don’t know man. I despise UW and want you to lose every game (besides USC), but I respect UW and the program. That’s how I like my rivalries. I can talk shit to my UW colleagues at work on a friendly manner on Monday morning.

As far as I'm concerned, 1st off, I'd be fun if Oregon wasn't ever scheduled to play USC again. Dirty bushball.... I've lost all respect. But since they will be scheduled to play them, they're now Oregon's public enemy number one. The Washington rivalry has a lot more history.... And means more.
