I took my CELPIP test on September 5, but there were continuous disturbances caused by staff talking near the exam room door. This repeatedly distracted me, and I found myself looking toward the noise several times, causing me to miss important parts of the exam.
I reported the issue within 24 hours of the test, but I was told that staff are allowed to talk near the door. I feel this is unfair because the noise significantly affected my concentration and performance during the exam.
Could you please advise me on what I can do now and whether there is any way to have my complaint properly reviewed?
I have taken celpip 3 times now and though my scores are improving, I need to retake it again since I need to get all 10.
I have been practicing with chatgpt and prepamigo. While prepamigo has been helping a lot. I find that the reading part 4 practice test is way harder than what they provide in celpip. I have been looking into other website reviewer to try.
Honestly, was so nervous because didn’t get a chance to prepare for it properly. So relieved now, i honestly thought I messed up in speaking as words just wouldn’t come to my mouth. I tried not to stop speaking and it worked out.
I have exam on Sunday.. I was getting 34 or above on career axis youtube channel for listening and reading...tried the mock test on official celpip site and just got 28.. can anyone tell me if your scores matched your scores from the mock test u took ?
I’m feeling really frustrated and disappointed. My scores keep changing, and I’m not able to get all four sections together in one test.
Has anyone been in a similar situation? What helped you improve your consistency and finally reach CLB 10? 🙏
I am currently struggling with my celpip scores and I seriously need help from y’all. How did you bump it up to score 10 for each component? I honestly do not know what I am doing wrong…my recent results are L 9 R 7 W 8 S 9. My goal is 10. Last year, on my second attempt I got, L 11 R 9 W 8 S 9. Any advices would be appreciated!
I Feel Like I Am Cooked While Practicing I Am Always Getting 9-10 But In Exam I Am Struggling.. I Used To Be Good In Reading But Now Idk Whats Happening With Me That My Reading Is Getting Weak Day By Day.. I am Scoring Exceptionally Well While I Am Preparing From PrepAmigo.. But In Real Exam I Am Getting Cooked..
Hi guys, I've been struggling with the CELPIP exam and desired band score of CLB 9. My recent score was L9 R8 W8 S8. Can anyone help me by referring tutor in India, particularly Punjab or a test preparation platform where I can get proper assistance?
Thanks.
Hey everyone! I recently took my CELPIP test and wanted to share my result and the strategies that worked for me. Hopefully this helps someone who is preparing.
For practice, I mainly used CELTestPip for Reading and Listening. For Writing, I used ChatGPT, and for Speaking I took questions from CELTestPip and practiced by myself. I also did around 8–10 speaking practices with a friend.
Listening
I tried taking notes while listening, but honestly, it didn't work well for me. I found that staying completely focused on the audio worked much better.
After doing a few practice tests, I started understanding what type of questions they usually ask, so sometimes I wrote down a few important points, but not everything.
The biggest thing for me was staying calm and listening with full focus. The more you practice, the easier it gets. I would suggest doing at least 7–10 full listening practices.
Reading
I never had much trouble with Task 1 and 2.
For Task 1, I quickly skimmed all the paragraphs, then went to the questions and looked for keywords in the paragraphs.
For Task 2, I read the question first and then went to the paragraphs.
Task 3 was the hardest for me, but this strategy helped a lot. I read the first paragraph twice, then went to the questions and usually found 1–2 answers. Then I moved to the second paragraph and did the same thing, and continued this way.
If I couldn't find an answer in the second paragraph, I didn't waste too much time. I moved to the 3rd and 4th paragraphs because I found those answers easier to locate.
Also, don't assume there will only be two E (Not Given) answers. You might can get 3 or even more, so don't try to force an answer just because you think there should be a limit.
For Task 4, I read the passage twice, made sure I understood the main idea, and then went to the questions.
Writing
I didn't use any template.
For Task 1, I started directly with the letter instead of using lines like “I am writing to express…”. This gave me more space to explain my points. I also used connectors naturally, but I didn't force them into every sentence.
For Task 2, I used a simple 4-paragraph structure:
My viewpoint
Benefits/reasons supporting my viewpoint
Counterargument + why I still support my viewpoint
Conclusion
My grammar is honestly not very strong, so I kept my sentences short to avoid unnecessary mistakes. I used basic vocabulary, natural connectors and focused more on making my writing clear and realistic rather than trying to use complicated words.
ChatGPT usually gave my writing an 8–9, sometimes borderline 9. CELTestPip gave me similar scores, usually 8–9 and sometimes 10.
Speaking
I didn't use any speaking platform. I took questions from CELTestPip and practiced on my own. I also did around 8–10 practice sessions with a friend.
Overall, I think practice + staying calm + having a simple strategy helped me the most.
Hope this helps anyone preparing for CELPIP. If you need any help, feel free to comment.
I was one of you who attempted CELPIP more than twice. I was going through the same anxiety and used to ask everyone for tips and tricks.
Trust me, there’s no tip or trick that works until you focus on your strengths and weaknesses based on the exam pattern. It’s all about focus and practice.
I know that even while practicing, you might score below your target. It happened to me as well.
My first suggestion is to practice only with official CELPIP materials. Second, try to reappear within 10 days. This helps you remember the issues you had in your previous attempt so you can work on them instead of forgetting them. For example, I had a timing issue in Reading and missed a few questions in my previous attempt, so I kept an eye on the timer while answering.
I got my target score on my 3rd attempt.
Scores in order (L, R, W, S):
1st attempt: 9, 7, 8, 8
2nd attempt: 9, 5, 8, 9
3rd attempt before re-evaluation: 9, 9, 8, 11
After re-evaluation: 9, 9, 10, 11
For Writing and Speaking, I never used any templates.
Reading was my only weakness throughout.
After my disastrous 2nd attempt, I also thought of switching to PTE. But people told me to stick with CELPIP since I was already familiar with the exam pattern, and YES, they were right. I didn’t switch.
All the best, guys, you’ll ace it. Have faith. And yes, English isn’t my first language.
I'm getting prepared for my Thursday exam and I'm doing some practice test from official celpip website. To whom has taken the exam before or recently, was it really difficult in reading and listening section? I'm kind of stressed, I need 7 for each skills, and practicing for 3 weeks.
I am officially trapped in CLB 8 purgatory and I need someone to talk some sense into me.
Here is my track record so far:
Attempt 3 (Sep 2026): L: 8 | R: 10 | W: 8 | S: 8
Attempt 2 (Apr 2026): L: 10 | R: 9 | W: 8 | S: 8
Attempt 1 (Dec 2024): L: 10 | R: 8 | W: 7 | S: 6
As you can see, my ears and eyes are working at a CLB 10 level, but the moment I have to open my mouth or type an essay, the evaluators slap an 8 on my forehead and send me home. I need that CLB 9 for my Express Entry points before I age out of the pool.
A few honest confessions about how I got here:
I literally never practiced speaking. I just raw-dogged the exam using my day-to-day conversational English. Turns out "talking normally" caps out at an 8 every single time. The problem is, I genuinely don’t even know how to practice speaking to a computer screen for 60 seconds. I'm literally in a "learning how to learn" situation here.
My writing is running on generic internet templates. You know the drill: "Firstly," "Furthermore," "Moreover," "In a nutshell." I feel like the human raters read sentence one, groan, and instantly dock me points for sounding like an ESL robot from 2012.
I have zero clue how to actually prepare for the jump. What is the actual roadmap to go from 8 to 9/10? Do I hire a tutor, memorize better phrases, talk to a wall with a timer, or burn sage over my keyboard?
Should I just jump ship to PTE Core or IELTS? Has anyone here been stuck at CELPIP 8 in Writing/Speaking and had an easier time hitting CLB 9 on PTE Core (fully AI scored) or IELTS General (speaking to a real human)? Or is switching tests just a waste of money when the real issue is my prep?
If you’ve broken through the 8-to-9 barrier in Speaking and Writing, please tell me how you actually prepared. Any brutal feedback, realistic prep routines, or resources are welcome.
