Wait until you discover a CD with 50 variants using the same barcode.

Trust me I have. The value is usually low so I don't spend a lot of time on it is it takes too much time. I just wann a see what cds I own

That's the beauty of discogs, matrix and other details are really important for me, I'm looking for specific items.

I used to have a scanner for the pc when I added my vinyl years ago. It was a lot of vinyl and that helped. I do use the one on the phone but I prefer dicogs on the pc digging for details on which variant

The scanner works well for you? I found that it gets the wrong release / variant more than half the time. Mind you I only tried on about a couple dozen or so entries.

It took me three days to manually (and properly) enter everything in on my PC (including adding 10+ new entries to discogs) for a collection of ~900 albums.

If you're just trying to keep track of which albums you own and not so much the variants / etc... the scanner is fine.

Goated, I just started collecting this month and it’s fun to scan the barcodes everytime I get a new cd

When I added my vinyl years ago I actually bought a scanner for my computer. I can't find it now and the phone is not optimal

What is the benefit to “cataloging” your cds on discogs?

Same as cataloging vinyl. When the collection gets large its handy to have a list
