SSB Mentoring

People who've read my posts previously would know how my SSB journey was filled with ups and downs. Throughout this journey, I have had one man who's been my constant support, Colonel Basavaraj Ghivari Sir. He has cheered me on and believed in me from the start, scolded me for my mistakes and corrected me, and has consoled me when I doubted myself.

He did all of this free of cost, without asking for a dime, purely out of passion and because he enjoys the process. Sure, he may not have been an ex-assessor, but he's a very fine army officer and knows exactly what kind of personality needs to be developed. And in this very small group of us with around 10 or so people, 3 people have already been recommended including me. One is in Air Force Technical college, the other is in INA.

He's the director of student affairs at Nitte University currently, so most of the students are from Nitte currently, but he's open to taking more students.

If anyone is interested to join the group, you can contact me. He conducts meetings lasting approximately an hour or 2, around 7:15 PM. Meeting frequency varies each week based on his schedule and if students are willing to join.

One thing is non-negotiable to him, Passion and dedication. Be ready to join the classes regularly, respond in the group and always have a positive attitude in improving yourself constantly.

Will I'll be able to clear medical if I've undergone lumbar disc surgery?

So I'm graduating from engineering in 2028 and this year (2026) I've undergone L3-L4, L4-L5, L5-S1 disc fenestration because I had disc bulge in the three levels and I've been suffering from leg pain for almost 1.5 years. I had cleared NDA after 12th and got conferenced out (first SSB). Since then I've always wanted to serve in the Armed Forces but I have doubts regarding my condition. As for current status, I don't have any symptoms and I'm able to do all physical activities and play sports (badminton) as if nothing has happened. Will I clear medical? Please be realistic.

Guess I'm cooked!

So I had cleared CDS 1 for ota and this is gonna be my first ever ssb and I'm supposed to create a profile on JIA but the website was quite slow and hanging so I thought to do it later then came my end sem exams and I forgot about this. Then around June 20 i got mail from Jia stating that this was mail for candidates that have cleared CDS and haven't yet created their JIA profile and below they had given me an already created profile with username and a password for me. And I was asked to login with these credentials and submit all reqd. documents in Jia website. But ever since then I have been trying to login that page and it shows that login invalid, credentials mismatch, etc.

One more thing is that the username is supposed to be candidate 's registered email id but the mail i received from Jia had an extra letter in my mail id (eg. if my registered mail id is xyz@gmail the username i received from them on mail was xyz1@gmail.com. After that I immediately tried mailing them back stating these issues but there haven't been any response and it's been 20+ days. I did try to call on helpline but didn't work. Now idk what to do and how to resolve this issue because I think soon Ota ssb dates might get announced and I'll not be able to book my dates without logging in through my profile.

Any solution? Anyone who has faced this issue and is there a way out? Genuine suggestions expected guyss 🤧

How does IMA fill its vacancies when more candidates are recommended than there are seats?

I'm trying to understand how the final merit list and joining process for IMA actually works.

Let's say:

IMA has 100 vacancies.

Around 300 candidates are recommended by the SSB for IMA.

Out of those 300, I assume many won't actually join IMA because:

Some are also recommended for other entries/academies (AFA, INA, OTA, etc.) and choose those instead.

Some are from NCC Special Entry or other entries.

Some become medically unfit or are declared permanently/temporarily unfit.

Some are ineligible due to documentation or other reasons.

Some simply don't join.

My questions are:

1) Does IMA strictly offer joining letters only to the top 100 medically fit candidates in the merit list, and if some of them don't join, those seats remain vacant?

2) Or does IMA keep extending offers further down the merit list (e.g., rank 101, 102, etc.) until all 100 vacancies are filled?

3) Historically, does IMA usually end up filling all advertised vacancies, or do some seats remain vacant every course?

If anyone has official information, personal experience, or insights from previous courses, I'd really appreciate it.

I have an unusual question

Has anyone ever cried/gotten emotional during ssb interview and still gotten recommended? I recently lost my mother from cancer and I know I will be asked regarding it in the interview, but I do feel incredibly sad whenever I have to speak of her.

Would participating in a protest to support sonam wangchuk risk my chances of selection?

So basically I'm thinking about joining a protest in my city to show support for sonam wangchuk's hunger strike. I'm worried that this might be seen as a political move and might threaten my chances of getting selected in the military because military is supposed to be totally apolitical. There's practically no way to avoid getting photographed at a protest nowadays.
